Stoneleigh - first impressions
Grass not cut, toilets filthy, no draught beer only bottles, 3 bottles and glass lemonade £15.
Worst venue for a Warner's show I've been to so far.
Entertainment though very good. Buddy Holly tribute very good and Houndogs superb musicians with endless energy. Roll and roll is not my favourite music and seen too many tributes to roll and roll but appreciate good musicians and these were good.

isn't that typical of big venues, big overheads, only one way to recover costs, just like the NEC etc.

Re: Stoneleigh - first impressions
The whole thing is a complete shambles.
I said to one of the men in hi-viz that they could have cut the grass and he said they'd had enough to do yesterday!
The shuttle bus to Leamington on Saturday and the day trip bus to Stratford don't allow dogs. We were planning on going to Leamington. We went to the information tent and apparently Warners didn't even know that until two days ago. Dogs have been allowed at all the other shows we've been to. One elderly man was really upset as he'd rung a few days ago to check he could take his dog to Stratford and was told he could and he pre-paid.
We complained about the pitching - you couldn't get off the pitch in an emergency because they're not in rows and no "roadway" between. According to the lady in the hi-viz vest, it's the way Warners have told them to do it. There are loads of caravans with their cars parked in any available space. We got the cars moved by us. Definite fire hazard if nothing else. We're right beside the fire extinguishers, which would be completely useless in an emergency in any event. The Autotrail section has loads of space and all parked in nice tidy rows.
Don't start me on the beer. The cafe only sells two meat dishes or chips (£2.50 a portion) I asked what they had for vegetarians and was met with a look of stunned shock, then "we've got sandwiches ".
The Buddy Holly tribute was fabulous. I was sceptical because Buddy's my favourite of all time and I saw the Crickets some years ago, but I loved them last night.
Won't be coming to this one again.
Phew, I need another cup of tea now!

Nora - I'm three rows to your left and last in row, you should see the flags.

Have you got the Flintshire flag up? I'll come out and have a look in a minute.

Re: Stoneleigh - first impressions
We like the Malvern show, which is always quite well organised, and seems to have a friendly atmosphere.
We're not into the evening entertainment, but there's always plenty of it and we do like strolling round with the dog to admire the superb costumes some of the "western" lot dress up in.
It's arguably the best show after Peterborough, and being quite close makes it even easier for us.

I like the entertainment but wasn't keen on last year's at Malvern. Our favourite is Lincoln so far.

Re: Stoneleigh - first impressions
Done Malvern twice. Like commercial country music but found Malvern too much of unheard-of artists playing their own songs. I like to sing along even if it's silently in my head. Always like Lincoln show.

Stoneleigh-first impressions
Couldn't agree more Paul, £4.50 for a bottle of warm beer....£22.00 for a bottle of wine !!!!!
not bought by me may I add. disgusting !!, noticed after Friday night that they didn't
do a lot of trade, will give it a miss next year.
Did call over to your van three times but you were out, we were with the MCC, don't have the
laptop when we are out and about, so couldn't contact you.
at least the weather was good, which was something .......Ray

Re: Stoneleigh - first impressions
Sorry to have missed you. After the first night of rip-off beer prices, we like hundreds of others, took our own booze despite the rules of not allowing that.
