Insurance for over 85
Does anyone know an insurance company for an 86 year old that isn't exorbitant, Saga want £1200 which is rediculous. I own a 97 Clubman and there is 1 named driver.

Several, and you have to complete the whole form only to be told they are unable to quote due to age.

Re: Insurance for over 85
When my late mother passed from 84 to 85 the quoted premium for her small car rose from £300 to £3,000. I was pleased as it provoked her to dispose of the car that for physical reasons she could no longer properly control but guess I will be a bit miffed if I get to that age and it happens to me!
I know many people over 85 still actively touring; I don't know if they have found a specialist insurer or just 'bite the bullet'

Lie about your age? I'm not serious, but it seems odd that several stars of screen and stage that I knew for a fact were born the same year as me, are now, 40 years later, somehow several years younger than me...

I think all you can do is keep looking, and limit annual milage as much as possible.
Its annoying filling in the online forms but its the only way.
Good luck.

Have you tried Age UK or Saga?

Have you tried adding a much younger driver to "balance it out" a bit?

Hi, swallow your pride, if the the named driver is younger than you, and certainly under 80, get them to insure it and have you as a named driver; you might be surprised at the difference in the quote.

If the main named driver doesn't drive the van I think you are committing fraud. This is the case if a parent insures a car for their child.
