Hello, my name is Ginger Jim a new member
Experiencing a problem with the alarm/horn and wondered if anyone else had a similar problem. Camping in St. Davids last September around midnight the alarm suddenly started up and the only way to stop it was to disconnect the battery, hoping not to have disturbed the rest of the campsite. The next day decided the only answer was to return home as we couldn't lock the van and leave it unattended for fear of the alarm going off again. The van went into the garage for an MOT and the Engineer thought the problem stemmed from the activator on the driver door and fitted a new one (costing £280). The problem still persists and the Duetto is now on my drive with the battery disconnected and we are unable to use it until a solution is found. Has anyone got a suggestion, please. I'd love to hear from you.

Alarms are not normally fitted from new , just immobilisers unless Fords are different so I would think the alarm is an aftermarket fitting. If you can find the alarm itself, there should be a fuse somewhere near. Remove the fuse and at least you should be able to use the van and just lock it.

Hi Burlingtonboay
Hope you didn't get flooded out last week. Re. Sams café, don't recollect that one. Did you mean Dunnies by the River, if so, its now been replaced by Sheltered Housing for the older generation.
Regards,
Ginger Jim

Welcome to the forum Jim
You might want to copy your alarm issue to the van conversion thread in case it gets missed here.

Hi Again,
Purchased the Duetto second hand in 2009 from the original owner via a Caravan/Motorhome Agent in Ilkley. I have all the original documents, including all bills and the original delivery details from Autosleeper via Marquis and the Autosleeper handbook. I have trawled through all these documents and can find nothing on alarms. Obviously, no alarm was fitted once it was handed over to the first owner. Sorry I have no idea it this is a Mark 7, as no information on that is given. I'm still scratching my head!.

Hi Jim,i phoned the boys at Ford and they said it could be fitted with a Cobra alarm which Ford would fit but supplied by Cobra, the warranty was usual 3 years but was covered by Cobra not Ford. It worked off the key fob. If you contact your local Ford dealer with your registration number, they should be able to tell you if one had been fitted to your vehicle. I hope this has been a help to you .......Dave
