Autosleeper Neuvo first time insurance
Hi all you Autosleeper lovers,
this is my first time on the forum and I am in the process of purchasing a 2006 Neuvo (trading in caravan, so first motorhome experience).
I am presently in the process of looking for suitable insurance, but just informed by LV Insurance that I cannot use my present car 3 years no claims to get motorhome insurance. Is this general and if so, any advice on suitable insurance cover?
Regards

It depends whether you are replacing the car with a motorhome, or keeping the car as well.
If swapping car for motorhome, it's not normal.
If you are keeping the car, it's normal - it would not matter if the second vehicle was a car or motorhome. They make you build up a complete NCB on a second (or third, or fourth) vehicle (car or motorhome). They do it because there is nobody to stop them doing it that way and they like taking money off you.
However, some insurers will offer an "introductory discount" when you add another vehicle.

Did you speak directly with LV?. They have a division called Highway which a lot of brokers deal with. Their policies are what is called Net policies and don't earn NCB and usually give a low price. Try Scenic Insurance or go on Asda Insurance to get a dozen or more online quotes..

I'm with Comfort. They were happy to take my evidence of 9 years NCB on my road car even though I was still insuring my road car (elsewhere). Good, economical insurance terms as well.

When we were looking to buy our first we purchased/registered the vehicle swmbo name as a named driver on "my" policy they gave us 40% discount for a new policy holder with me named as the main driver she now of course has full no claims which in the long run works out better as and when or if we give up the camper and get another car.
For us this year Direct Line was the best deal

Many thanks for your prompt reply, yes we are keeping the car as well, so will "shop around", as other MHs have done and may have to "bite the bullet" for awhile?themenace wrote:Hi all you Autosleeper lovers,

Re: Autosleeper Neuvo first time insurance
I had the same problem when I started motorhoming. SAGA offered me a 40% introductory discount.
Although they are no longer the cheapest (both camping/caravan clubs have offered lower prices)I have stuck with then as they saved me so much to begin with.

When we first started Safeguard took ncb evidence to give us an introductory 1st year. After that normal NCB applies

Had a great quote from Comfort for 2006 Neuvo, sounds too good to be true compared to a lot of others? Have you had any claims experience with them, or know anyone that has?PLOUGHLIN wrote:I'm with Comfort. Our wee car and Sigma are insured with lifesure and underwritten by AXA. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Very competitive prices, not pleased with the 10% insurance premium hike, increased from 6%.
