Auto Sleeper's Owners Handbook
Hi folks. I bought this very low mileage van in April and was extremely pleased to find that it came with a good set of habitation documents, including an AS Peugeot Harmony Handbook. Unfortunately, it wasn't till I came to compare the vehicle conversion with what I was reading that I realised that the Handbook is for a later model.
The Handbook I have is for a 1999 Harmony and my van is 1996. There are many significant differences between them and I am wondering if any reader may have a copy of the 1996 AS Peugeot Boxer Harmony Handbook that I could beg or borrow. I've spoken with Alan at AS Parts Dept who could not help but suggested I try via ASOF.
Once I've obtained the 1996 Handbook there will be a 1999 one up for grabs if anyone needs it.
Thanks and regards to all.
Grahame

I understand that the owners handbook can be relevant to more than one model, if that is not the case I apologise. mine is.someone will be able to help you, possibly tomorrow now.

Re: Auto Sleeper's Owners Handbook
Thanks for replying Margaret. Before posting my request I spoke with Alan at AS Parts Dept. He has copies of all available AS models and has assured me that the Handbook for the 1999 Harmony contains sections that are different from the 1996 model due to a variety of upgrades in the later model.
For example, the 1999 model has a different toilet installed - Thetford C2 as opposed to a C3L in the 1996. (Different flushing system).
The electrical system on the 1996 is very basic compared to the 1999 which has, amongst other things, a twin (vehicle & habitation) battery charging system when on hook up. The 1996 only charges the habitation battery.
There may be other differences but hopefully I've said enough to show that one manual doesn't cover all models. Obviously there will be some similarities and I'm aware that some sections of all Handbooks can apply to all models but important things like schematic wiring diagrams are different.
Once again, thanks for your reply Margaret. The search continues.

Re: Auto Sleeper's Owners Handbook
Thanks for explaining that, I was going on mine, as a few things are different on mine to what is in the book. Hope you can find one sure you will, there are some on the ASOC but have to be a member, I am not.
Perhaps someone will be able to copy one for you. or the relevant bits that you need. have you Google it ,? surprising what you can find on there.
The first van I test drove was a Harmony, when I was first looking for a van, then found it hadn`t power steering,
Regards,
Margaret

Thanks Margaret. I'll try to contact Mike to see if the 1995 will cover the 1996. I'm also about to apply for ASOC membership.

Re: Auto Sleeper's Owners Handbook
The wiring could be different. On my 1995 Symphony, the 12 volt supply to the living quarters is still live with the engine running. I think that on the 1996 Symphony these 12v circuits are isolated with the engine running.

Re: Auto Sleeper's Owners Handbook
Thanks for that Frank. I don't know what differences there are between mine, the 96 Harmony, and the other models of the same year as far as the living quarters electrical supply is concerned. It would be useful to know but the relevant AS Handbook seems not to exist.
I've tried Alan in AS Spares and also Mark in AS Servicing, both to no avail. My only hope is that someone on the forum may have a copy that I can beg or borrow. Fingers crossed.

Re: Auto Sleeper's Owners Handbook
A suggestion - member Newterry has a 1999 Harmony but has made it his quest to get any info on his Harmony that he can get hold of. Maybe, just maybe, that in his quest he may have acquired an earlier handbook. Maybe send him a PM . You never know.
Terry's story is a fascinating one. He bought his Harmony new in 1999, sold it a few years later, then somehow came across again for sale in a dealers, so bought it back again and scours the ads and eBay etc for brochures, manuals and anything that relates to his Harmony. Not sure if his earlier posts are still available but if you get a chance, read through his posts.

Re: Auto Sleeper's Owners Handbook
Just one word of warning so that your expectations are not too high: My previous van was a 1999 Flair which came with an original Owner's Manual that was supplied from the factory with the van. It was hopelessly out of date, and almost none of the appliances matched what was actually fitted to the van. So please be prepared for the possibility that, should you find a 1996 Harmony manual, it may still be of limited use for your van!

Hi Graham
We have a 1996 Symphony and the handbook that came with it is a 1997 (so there are some differences) looks like it was the handbook that came with the van though. Who knows. Anyway my enterprising wife made a pdf of it, Here is a link
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
might not have all you need in it but might fill a few gaps (or at least you can compare it with what you already have for free)
if the link doesn't work I can email it to you.

Re: Auto Sleeper's Owners Handbook
No worries Grahame, It took a little while to upload but I was going out so had to post the link before it had finished.
There are things in there that only relate to VW vans so I'm not sure they were ever that hot on specific manuals!
Hope it helps :)

Re: Auto Sleeper's Owners Handbook
Graham,
I too have a full and original AS manual for my 1995 Harmony if you need a pdf scan copy. However, as was mentioned, don't get too hopeful that you will be appropriately informed by it. For a start, the wiring diagrams make reference to so many variants (Renault, Talbot and Ford included) and, where Boxer is identified, some important details are either missing or just plain wrong. I complained to Charles T at AS at that time but I'm not sure it did any good, particularly as I think it was him who wrote it!

Re: Auto Sleeper's Owners Handbook
Hi Graham, I have a recently acquired 1996 petrol Harmony (registered 7/1/97) which has an Autosleeper Instruction Manual covering all the habitation aspects, water, heating, toilet etc. Are you still in need of a copy?
On the other hand, I have no Peugeot Boxer manual which would cover engine, brakes, vehicle electrics, lights etc. Do you have one of those? Or could anyone else reading this thread help?
Regards
Godfrey

Re: Auto Sleeper's Owners Handbook
If you are looking for something like a Haynes manual then I'm afraid you're out of luck. The CD/DVD manuals that you see advertised on the internet are of limited use.Godfrey Whitehouse wrote:

There is a Peter Russek manual which covers the Boxer, Ducato and Relay [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] but it isn't as comprehensive as a 'Haynes' type manual. The Haynes Xantia manual can be helpful for the engine, but only as a guide as they are not exactly the same.

Re: Auto Sleeper's Owners Handbook
Hi Godfrey. Welcome to the AS Harmony world. You're in exactly the same position as I was when I bought mine in April 16 - ie I had the habitation manual but had no info on the base vehicle. As a result of replies from many members, including but not limited to Boxerman, Paulmold, Bartfast, Mojo, etc I am now much better informed - thank you all.
Incidentally I recently purchased a Peter Russek manual but found it to be of very limited use - nowhere near as good as the one I bought for my 1964 VW Type 2 back in 1971. (also there's a page missing)
There's a great pool of knowledge on the forum and many members are only too pleased to give advice - all you have to do is either look it up or ask.
Best regards
Grahame
