Engine Fault Code Readers
I've got a 2001 %1 plate Pollensa with a 2.4 120bhp Duratorq, I've twice had the flashing glowplug light occur with the van going into limp mode. The first time I stopped to look in handbook to find out what it meant (i've only had vaan since June) and when I restarted the light had gone of and we continued our trip to Barmouth and back problem free. It's happened again near my home about 2 weeks later and went off after i went home and restarted the van.
Someone iwas chatting to said the fult codes need to be read, repaired if needed & reset to clear old error codes from ecu memory.
Does anyone know of a reliable reader that can be purchased.
Any advice will be appreciated

Re: Engine Fault Code Readers
I had a works van 2004 2.4 135 dura torque it used to do this a lot ford dealer could never find a fault code, I just lived with it. It went in for a service and they found an issue with the fuel filter water sensor, which was replaced, the fault never occurred again. It also used to put the light on sometimes when changing gear when the engine was being used at full boost, this was due to overboost, I learnt to drive it differently and it didn't happen, unless I made it happen. Get the fault codes read by a dealer but it may not help you resolve the issue. The fuel filter might have a button you press to see if it contains water, the button is near the filter and has a sight glass with green and red lines on it, to indicate pass or fail, worth a look? Other than these niggles it it was a good van.

Re: Engine Fault Code Readers
Hi Nigel
Our son bought some software which he has on his laptop that he has used to clear the fault codes on his Range Rover and also on his Laika motorhome. Worked a treat. He is away at the moment but I will find out what it was called when he returns.

Your 2001 is very unlikely to have an OBDC socket which is needed for diagnostic read out using ScanGauge or an Ebay code reader. My 2001 51 Plate Fiat certainly did not have even though it was the Euro 3 2.8JTD engine. There was a very simple diagnostic socket but it was not OBDC compliant.
