Auto-Sleeper Executive 2005
Hi
Hopefully buying a 2005 Auto-Sleeper 4 berth Executive on an 05 plate. Have looked at a LOT of motor homes and this seems a nice size for my wife, me and 2 small dogs. Buying from a dealer and the MH seems as if it's been well cared for inside and out although I'm slightly concerned by the mileage which is 89,000. It's based on a Peugeot Boxer with the 2.8 engine. Would love to hear any thoughts on the mileage / choice of engine / how economical it's likely to be and basically any useful info from people in the know.
Many thanks
Cliff

Hello and welcome. I am definitely not in the "know" we have recently bought a VW t4 Trident on a 04 plate and it has done a similar mileage. Is it diesel? I would not be too concerned. My diesel Golf on 06 plate has done 101.100 miles and still going strong! Ours is fairly economical so far but we have only been to Somerset and back anf filled with £40.00 diesel whuich got us back to kent and then down to Camber sands with some left over :)

We have a 2005 Exec with the 2.8 HDi engine.
We can achieve between 26-30mpg, but we don't exactly have the light feet that would be needed to improve that to around 32mpg.
I wouldn't particularly worry about the mileage, the diesel Boxer engine is designed as a delivery van after all.
I can't find that particular combination of year, engine and mileage on either ebay or Auto Trader, is it not advertised nationally?
It might help you with negotiating a price if you can find a similar one, like this (says it's 2.0 HDi though, not 2.8) :

Hi Chris. That's the one. Says 2 litre but apparently is the 2.8. Thank you for all the advice

Thank you for the advice. Yep it's a diesel engine.Juno5458 wrote:Hello and welcome. In that case I'd say that the price on ebay is pretty competitive. I've been watching that one for several months and I note that the screen price in the photos is actually £24,995, so I hope you'll be paying the ebay price, not the screen price.
The main difference between that one and ours is that ours has the more modern curved furniture, but we paid a similar amount privately.
I would say that it looks a good buy as long as it comes with the dealer's comprehensive warranty, as things WILL go wrong.
EDIT: Advertising it with a 2.0L engine is possibly why no-one has bought it, daft b----r who wrote the advert.

It's a done deal. Checked and definitely the 2.8. Drives well and all looks good. I managed to get an extension on the warranty which looks to be fairly comprehensive and my wife, a woman who actually enjoys haggling in the souks of Marrakech, managed to get a big chunk knocked off the Ebay price.

Congratulations, I know that you'll both enjoy an Exec, we loved our first one so much that we bought another one.
