Ladders for Nuevo cab bed
Hi, the ladders that came with the Neuvo are the very heavy metal ones which fold in half. As such we leave them behind. We unexpectedly needed them last week. Has anyone replaced them with a lighter version? [and where the foot thread is not as narrow as they are quite painful to stand on in bare feet] Are the hooks it attaches to the cab a standard width apart?
Many thanks!
Many thanks!

Re: Ladders for Nuevo cab bed
Hi Lancky, if there was an alternative to the aluminium folding ladder inherent to your Nuevo be it another design or fabricated, I don't think it would be lighter or more compact. More importantly the key issue has to be safely so that the load bearing and security of fixture is guaranteed. In our previous Broadway the experience of climbing down the ladder did require careful manoeuvring to initially feel for the step before twisting your body round on your bare foot. I suppose wearing slippers would have been more comfortable but never thought about it at the time. Regards

Both our Inca and Wilton had Luton's and we did not carry the supplied ladder. To meet the occasional need to recover a delinquent cat we carried the steps in the attached photo - I could get into the luton from them when needed. As you can see, they did have other uses that made it worth carrying them.....

I would also like to replace the heavy steel folding ladder with something lighter but the one suggested might not be so safe for our six year old grandson.
We wedge ours in its bag behind the passenger seat when travelling.

When our daughter was younger and came with us on trips we used the original ladder as it was made to fit into the retaining lugs and felt safe under load.
However we did modify it to be gentler on her feet by sticking lengths of foam pipe lagging on the rungs.
cheers

Thanks for your thoughts. Safety is paramount [grand children] but had hoped there was a lighter option. Best stick to what is custom made then....they are fine with the very uncomfortable struts, while I can only mount the ladders doming footwear!

As I mentioned above, that problem is easily solved with some foam e.g. pipe lagging or similar, on the leading edges and flat tops of the otherwise uncomfortable rungs.

My solution. Adapt a pair of 4 step aluminium ladders. Remove rear legs and top platform and fix a bracket on top rail that locates into the handle of the overcab bed. Fits on top of bed when travelling.

That looks interesting....neither of us have the tools that could adapt a ladder but our neighbour has every conceivable tool in his garage....
