Hello
Hi All, just introducing myself. Currently without an Autosleeper but looking to upgrade as soon as possible from my talbot express elddis 320. Which model I get is still to be decided but I have already found the forum very helpful when looking through old threads for pointers and advice.
Based in Matlock, Derbyshire. Anyone on here local?
Kind regards
Adam

Re: Hello
Hi Adam,
Welcome to a friendly, helpful place. What model/s are you looking for? I only recently became an Autosleeper owner myself (pickup next week).
There seem to be plenty of models for sale out there, but tracking a good example down in a relatively close location is not the easiest task... Good luck in your search!
Cheers from a cold, wet NW.

Re: Hello
Hi J,
Most likely looking for a clubman, but haven't ruled out getting a talisman/ executive (on a Peugeot boxer chassis rather than talbot)
I've had t4's before and so I think I'd prefer a clubman, occasionally they also seem to come up a bit cheaper than the average talisman/executive.
But the Peugeot is available with a turbo and size wise it's similar to the motorhome we have now.. Which we very much like.
Our budget hinges on the sale of my defender which gets picked up Sunday ( fingers crossed it doesn't fall through) and it would be far better if we could also sell our current motorhome because of space.
I'm only looking at a budget of around eleven (currently) which I accept is very lean. I had to talk my other half into changing motorhomes as she's quite happy with the one we've got, and at the time we were talking about it / I was talking her into it there were a few nice looking examples around for that sort of money.
For me it's certainly a case of having the money ready to go and then quickly going to view any bargains that come up, I'm happy to travel nationaly for something that looks promising so at least not restricted to local sales.
What did you go for?
Bests

Re: Hello
Hi,
I went for a Medallion on a VW base, bit of a rare beast. Really like the Clubman but there weren't any locally when I was looking - and decided didn't want to travel nationally to view.
Have a look at this post to see a couple, some good advice from other members too.
Check out the place I mention, he has a good selection of stock. I also started at around your budget but couldn't find anything that ticked the boxes so had to increase a bit.
There's a very cheap Clubman on eBay - around 7,500, it's bound to be rough at that price, I contacted the trader who says it needs "a bit of welding and some tyres...", might be worth a look for a cheap buy though!
All the best,
J

Re: Hello
Hi J, thanks for the link.. Interesting reading, congrats on your purchase.
There was a medallion on eBay very recently, it may well have been the one that you bought. Certainly looked very nice!
It's the size thats got me puzzled really. I love how compact the clubman is... and worry about it in equal measure. Im hoping once we've viewed a few we'll know what to do.
Price wise I too would like to increase our budget, but it's a joint purchase so it's only fair we decide as a couple.
Whatever we do its a massive purchase for us ( I know it is for anyone) we're both under 30 and neither of us are wealthy.. We've just worked hard and saved, that's why I'm confident an Autosleeper is the wisest choice as it feels more like a reliable investment in comparison to other motorhomes.

Re: Hello
Hi Adam,
Yes I'm with you on the big purchase and wise investment.
The good thing is that it seems anything Autosleeper will hold value better than most (not sure on the newer stuff, but I'm guessing so for them too). The quality is great (though I'm far from sold on the interior fabrics of mine!) and there is solid demand for them.
You just need to track down a well cared for example.
I'd recommend a trip to a couple of dealers, check out the models and that will give you a much better idea of what you want/need, and what you get for your money. I looked at a few Executive's and liked them, but prefer a side dining table rather than 2 sofas... Horses for courses. Would like to have found a Clubman to view myself, but there weren't any around here at the time.
On size: during my search I was told by various people - traders and enthusiasts alike - don't make the mistake of buying too small, that's what most people do then trade up because they don't have enough space... So I listened to that and went big ha. Hopefully not too big, as I still like the idea of a T4 base that drives more like a car than a truck, but that's the pay off.
Can of worms... Good luck with your search!
