Just Saying Hello
Hiya to All members, I need some urgent advice on the Peugeot campervan, which I am keen to purchase. It’s for one man and his dog well it’s actually a woman and her dog.
I have spent many hours looking at the various models, is the Harmony slightly shorter in length?? You can get buffled when you have looked at so many. I would like the camper to have a toilet, not that fussed about a shower.
I hope to tour Ireland in the camper, narrow lanes main issue and of course the ferry that is why I’am concerned about the size. I have done it in a car bed and breakfasting.
No doubt it’s better diesel than petrol for economy.
I really would appreciate any advice, I live in South Cumbria
Kind Regards

Re: Just Saying Hello
Hi Wattsy,
I bought a Harmony earlier this year and did a bit of homework before buying. The Harmony is the short wheelbase version at approx 4.8m long. I believe the Symphony & Symbol are approx 5.2m long, so 400mm or so longer. The Harmony is slightly lighter too due to the shorter wheelbase but not sure if this makes any difference in handling or fuel economy in the real world.
The Harmony is ideal for us as we have a short driveway and tight turning space to get out onto the road. I think we would have struggled slightly with the extra 400mm of the other versions of the van.
We also really like the fact the Harmony has four 3 point seatbelt which is useful (Symbol & Symphony only have three). It's still quite a wide van compared to say a VW T4 but if you are 4ft 11 or less means you can sleep across the van (as we do).
We ended up getting a petrol even though we looked at diesels too. I thought a bit quieter and our local mechanic reckons they are more reliable than diesels (or less expensive if they go wrong) but I'm sure some would disagree with that! We won't be doing much more than 5000 miles per year so the cost saving of diesel didn't really stack up for us either.
All in all really pleased with the van and layout works well for two adults and a 4yr old
Welcome aboard, I'm sure there will be others along too that will give some good advice shortly!
