2004 PEUGEOT NUEVO
Hi Guys,
I have got two separate leads coming out of the engine bay baulk head next to the ENGINE battery. One is colour BLACK and the other is a double wired colour RED/BLUE ? They both have ring terminals so why have they been disconnected from the engine battery. I think I need to sort this out before I go any further on another problem I have ( Split Charging ) Any help would be most welcome.
Thanks Fred.

Sounds like whatever it was has been disconnected.
It could be something that is standard but no longer working, or an extra/accessory that has been removed. Towbar electrics are often linked direct to the battery, do you have one on the van/did the van have one once?

Well it definitely sounds like it's a disconnected accessory from the starter battery as Andy says.
What are your charging issues - if the starter isn't being charged, could these be the wires from the split charger?

Re: 2004 PEUGEOT NUEVO
Well, from the pic of the one terminal it looks like at least one of the cables was connected to the bolts on either side of the connector and my money would be on the righthand one that no longer has a nut. I suspect a rather cavalier owner/tech has just undone the nut, removed the connections and thrown the nut away. Luckily, if the connections are needed and perform a useful function there's still a spare bolt with nut that could be used.
Another thoght that struck me is that they might belong to an alarm system that has been disconnected because it was playing up and/or removed and maybe transferred to another vehicle. Is there any sign of an alarm on the van/or there having been one in the past?

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all your help it turns out the disconnected wires ( Red/Blue) from the vehicle battery were from the split charge relay. All working fine now thanks to bikeralw and everyone else who helped.
Cheers Fred.
