Water Sticker
Hi All
A quick question please
Our filler for topping up the fresh water looks to me like it "should" have a sticker on it, at the top, around the outside edge - should it have ??
Ours appears to be missing - does anyone have a photo of what it should look like, and more importantly, where I can get a replacement sticker ??
Thanks
Frank

Re: Water Sticker
Beat me to it Admin, I was about to post exactly the same link.
My water filler has the word 'water' actually engraved in the outer rim. Would have been better if it had been high-lighted in contrasting colour though.

Re: Water Sticker
Thanks Admin - ordered and on it's way (hopefully)
Paul - you could always highlight the engraved word yourself, with a little gloss paint applied lightly and then rubbed over, to leave it in the letter impressions perhaps ??
@Cymro - yikes !!
Thanks all

Re: Water Sticker
Hi there
Just thought I would update you with my progress on this, as it has been quite successful, and the badge I eventually got made up was excellent.
I ordered the badge as suggested by Paul, knowing it would be too big, and hoping I could trim it down. Anyway, from the first picture you can see it was a little too large for the slot to stick it in, and being a gel type badge wouldn't really lend itself to trimming.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
So, I went back to the guy who sold it me on ebay and explained that the badge was great, but too large, and could he make me a bespoke one. Several emails later (over the course of a week or so) and the badge below dropped through my letterbox.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
As you can see, it is a superb fit and is also colour coded to the rest of the van - and all for less than £4
So, if you want a bespoke gel type sticker contact David Roche at avp-signs via ebay or contact me and I will send you his email address.

Ooops - got the wrong link !!
The post by ADMIN was the correct one - this is the guy on ebay who sold me the sticker;

And this was the sticker I bought initially;

Re: Water Sticker
Hi there,
You are all starting to worry me now!!
I have two "holes" in Petal - both with locking caps. They are:
1. One that opens with the IGNITION key; it is the DIESEL opening.
2. One that opens with the DOMESTIC key; it is the WATER opening.
Once explained to her, I would expect my two-year old granddaughter to grasp the difference and, should she be so congenitally stupid as to mix them up thereafter, I would have her put down.
So why would anyone need a label that says "WATER" (which incidentally, as my granddaughter cannot read, would be useless to her!!) to stick on a hole that they know full well what it is for!
Best regards,
Dutto

water label
I agree with Dutto with regards to a label on the water tank, to normal experienced motorhomers it shouln'd be necessary, however we have another thread which covers cleaning out fresh water tanks contaminated with diesel on ASOF, so it must happen, possibly when the van is lent to somone who is not experienced, sons daughters ETC.

I'm in total agreement with Brian, Accidents can happen and the cost to repair can be excessive. So whats the big deal about labelling each 'hole' . Most of us love our vans and putting those little finishing touches to them is just normal.

Re: Water Sticker
I agree with Roger, it's not a case that people are thick and cant tell the difference between their water tanks and fuel tanks, (I know it does happen.. but even the sticker is not a guarantee they wont make that mistake) for most of us it's purely cosmetic and it's just nice to have these little features, nothing wrong with taking pride in your vehicle

I'm sure the idiots in Brussels who say that water is bad for you, will insist on 'Wasser' or 'Eau' stickers only next

Re: Water Sticker
I didn't realise this post would generate so many replies !!
For me, it was a case of putting a sticker back where clearly there had been one once, so more taking pride in the look of the van than anything else. If, in the future, it stops someone (maybe me !!) making a mistake then so much the better.
I posted a follow up post because I was impressed with the badge I had obtained and thought that others might want a badge/sticker making for their van, or any other purpose for that matter, and I found the chap I used to be helpful and good value for money, so thought others might benefit from my experience.
Just my two-penneth .....

Hi Frank.
I agree its the little touches that say you care and are proud of your vehicle. How many would run around with decals and strips etc missing or damaged. Not many.
Thanks for the post. Whisky.

Not quite the same but could any of these go above, below or alongside your inlet?

Didn't anyone mention Dymo Tape?
Works perfectly for me, and if you already have the machine it costs 0.000000000001 pennies!

Both great ideas ;-) but the ocd in me still prefers the sticker that fits perfectly into the recess that looks like it was made for a sticker ;-)

Re: Water Sticker
Met a man in Calais at the old Aire. he had filled the water tank of his two week old Hymer with 100 liter of diesel.
He went on to say that he pulled over in a lay by and drained the lot into the drainage ditch.
now he was parked at the borne to fill up with water having said he had flushed the tank once.
I suggested that he didn't do that as it would contaminate the whole of his water system but he was adamant that it would be okay.
He then pulled a watering can out of the under bed garage.
I offered him the use of my hosepipe as I was in the queue behind him. lol
he said the taps are funny and won't accept the British tap fittings, it did and he filled up, I would love to know the outcome but I suspect that it wasn't the result he was hoping for.

Whilst picking up the WXL last week from the dealer a Motorhome came in that had just filled the water tank with Diesel, was hoping to get drained and cleaned to continue there holiday.
