Count down to new ownership!
We are in the South Lakes and are picking up our Ford transit Legend next week.
Excited and nervous about driving him home.
It's going to be hard saying bye to my caravan but looking forward to new adventures.

A good van enjoy, much easier than a caravan, say good bye, to all the lugging and faffing about.

I have been planning our first trip. I have never dared tow the caravan but I really want to drive the Legend. I have been swayed by the idea of parking up and getting the kettle on without all the fiddling about.

Re: Count down to new ownership!
You will be fine, I did tow a caravan, but far prefer a motorhome , it is a lot easier with a motor home especially the reversing, , it is a bit daunting at first and the width may be a concern, just allow plenty of room when overtaking, on corners take it slowly turn a little later and take it a little wider to accommodate the length, as the rear end can go over the pavement etc, keep an eye on the near side mirror, twin rear mirror is a godsend, I think so and wouldn`t be without mine.
After ten minutes you will relax and start to enjoy it. I had to drive over 200 miles the first time when collecting it, I had never test driven it either , it seemed enormous to me, in the dealers compound, had to get it home, no one else was there to do it, had a mixture of roads including the M6, town roads and remote country lanes, by the time I was home I loved it ,
So enjoy your and have many safe and happy adventures.
Sorry forgot to say, Hello and from Leicestershire

Re: Count down to new ownership!
Yippee !! Drove my new baby home, part on M6 and then on A6, slight hiccup setting off from a junction which resulted in a bit of muck out of the exhaust, hubby was driving behind me , otherwise I would have been non the wiser. I have never driven anything as big but it was brilliant. I am normally an anxious driver but had daisy makes advice and off I went! Was grinning like crazy when another motorhome owner waved at me!!!! Spent the afternoon cleaning and exploring. I love the owners manual. Can't suss the radio but know it works as it was on when we looked round the first time.
Hubby has had motorhomes before but the big American thing he had was too big and made me feel car sick with steering wheel on the wrong side,so I made him sell it and went for the caravan. So he was worked on me for the last 3 years and worn me down and the Legend was the only one I liked. Big end lounge is great. First trip week after next up to Hawes but we are going to camp out in it next weekend. Hubby is worried now,he thinks I'll be disappearing off on my own, told him I still need him to do the toilet!!!!

Hi,
Well done, see you did do it, and the toilet is no bother either, just the thought of it at first, easy to do it more often , rather than leave it until it is too heavy.
I go off on my own, so why not. you're all set now, no stopping you, hubby will not get a look in, well he did ask you.
