Malvern Western Show August
Was wondering if any members have been to this show in the past , have they stayed on the C&CC area, if so, is it far from the exhibition area / toilets, , and how did you find it? , last year I was on general, bit like a car park , but when it rained didn`t have soggy grass as it was gravel, I didn`t book in advance then, this year I am booking in advance, am a member of the C&CC , so wondering whether to book on club or general, I know club area does not have many pitches, rang the C&CC today but they know nothing about temporary sites so couldn`t help, looked for a telephone no. for Warners cannot find one, so asking you helpful members.
Thanks ,
Margaret

If you are a member of ASOC they are running a rally there. I went a couple of years ago. We were not far from the action, though I gather it cannot always be guaranteed from year to year.

Re: Malvern Western Show August
We've been twice. First time on C&CC area but can't remember how close to the action we were. Second time in general area , so far away that we had to cross a road. My cousin was on the completely opposite side in general but in a small area named the orchard. It was so peaceful there it was like being on a CS in the country. You can ask the wardens when you arrive if want quiet but it's at the expense of a long way from the action.
PS - just remembered that a minibus goes around the site for those away from the exhibition area.
As for toilets/showers they are on every area. I

Thanks Paul, when there last year, didn`t book so was in general it was like a car park, gravel although next to a road opposite were field and trees , not bad there dryer underfoot when it rained , but very noisy as the motor homes were coming in by the side of mine, plus the bus. was a way to walk as well, , dogs got plenty of exercise,

The owner of the CS we were at last week has a pre-show rally for the MMC every year. He said last year's show was spoiled by a large group of travellers. Did you see anything?

Re: Malvern Western Show August
No Paul, everyone seemed genuine motorhome owners there wasn`t any trouble or rubbish left, that I saw, first I have heard of travellers being on there. would have been a bit wary if I had known. Did have to walk by several campers areas to get to the action, the MHF crowd had the biggest area that I could see, nearer to the action than we were. think the BMH had an area as well.
Would have thought Warners would have been on the ball there, if that was the case then Warners should be prepared surely.?

He said they were prebooked and arrived separately so Warner's couldn't tell. I wasn't there so can't comment myself.

Yes, the travellers were there and caused a lot of aggro. Mostly noise at all hours including a spectacular fracas I gather, but I believe there was some thieving too.
They were right up in the top corner away from the action, which was fortunate for all except those nearby.

OMG That's a bit off putting to say the least .probably safer in a club area then.

Re: Malvern Western Show August
At most of these shows the C&CC and CC camping areas tend to not be in as good as position as the owners clubs ie:ASOC, Autotrail etc the exception possibly the MCC and on grounds like 3 Counties the internal bus system tends to be handy for the oc areas
Malvern does not tend to flood like some areas at say Peterbborough or Lincoln

I don't think there was any danger as such. The club area last year was almost the closest of any areas. It couldn't have been a couple of hundred yards to the entrance, and right next to a good clean shower and toilet block.daisy mae wrote:OMG That's a bit off putting to say the least .probably safer in a club area then.
Hope it's the same this year.

Which club area was that Dave, ? there were lots of different club areas. I am only in the C&CC,and CC I am a subscriber to MMM.as far as I know the CC doesn`t have an area, may be mistaken.

Re: Malvern Western Show August
Autosleeper Owners Club - is there another worth mentioning!!!!
We hesitated about joining since we are not really the rallying types, but I have to say they were very friendly and welcoming, and we enjoyed the weekend. We plan to do the same this year, as the Malvern show is one of the best and is not far from us.
The A/S club is very much focussed on rallying, indeed they seem to do nothing else, but they were not at all pushy or intrusive. There was no pressure to join in, and they didn't do any of the daft activities that some groups seem to enjoy. We chatted to most others in our corner of the field and they were all very amenable.
Can't complain about that, so we renewed our membership and shall support them further.

Glad you say that Dave. We were never rally people at all, but for some reason went to our first ASOC rally 6 years ago. Great crowd, and as you say not pushy. Made some good friends, and what better place to have a nose around other AS vans...we all want to do it!

Re: Malvern Western Show August
You would be amazed at how many people keep their AS vans just to stay in ASOC.
We have made quite a few friends in our 16 years app membership
some of whom, mentioning no names were persuaded to stand for the committee after a long night on the red stuff and have done a good job since then

Re: Malvern Western Show August
Hi Daisy we have been many times and have stayed on the CCC area
twice and both times we were very close to all the action and we found it quiet at night. We never saw any trouble.
We have found that over the years the accessories available are not as good and some of the best no longer attend. However it is still one of the best shows.
