Mercedes Base vehicles
Hi
I am still looking looking to buy a small Van more like a day or W/E van, as we use the van more as mobile bedroom for my disabled wife; also it could be used as our only daily vehicle' I have looked at all the usual vans but I have not seen any on the Mercedes base.
Is there anyone out there who owns one that can advise/or recommend them.
Cheers
Andy

Re: Mercedes Base vehicles
Andy, We use a VW Topaz automatic as a daily and camping vehicle. It drives beautifully, is comfortable, offers everything you need for camping and easily meets the "fits into a Tesco parking space" criterion. I can also get it into and through our driveway without readjusting the shape of the gate posts.
The downside for some people is the limited comfort of the sleeping arrangements. That would need careful assessment before any proposed purchase, as would the ease of entry for a disabled person. We find space at bedtime a bit tight, but with practised routines, it is perfectly satisfactory for us.
Best of luck with your search. Keith

Hi KMR
Thank you for your reply.
Yes I have been looking for a Topaz/Trophy, but they don't come up very often, and when they do, they are sold they go very quickly.
There is a Trophy at Kendal motors but it has done over 100k miles and of course along way to go if it is "not as described", as I have found out recently with Ebay.
I have always bought and sold privately with my vans, so I have been a bit shocked at the number of crooks on Ebay, they must be doing some damage to this Company.
I see you are in North Wales, spent 12 fantastic years living in working there in the 70/80s.
Thanks again,
Andy

I have an Autosleeper Mercedes Montana pop top. There was two on EBay at a dealers back last year. They are based on the Mk1 Vito 5 door. That's a sliding door each side. 2 single beds, hob grill heating sink porta poti etc and a large bed in the roof of the pop top when up. Might suit you
