Hello from a potential owner
Hi all,
I am a new visitor to your site, an OAP with too much time and not enough interests.
I am a current owner of a Chausson Oddesey 92 with a huge garage area, and I am looking to buy something newer and Better????
I have seen a a Beckford that is unregistered and still new although a 2014 model. It seems to fit the bill for everything that we want especially the bed arrangements.
What I would like to know is WHY did they dro . pped it so quickly? Is it because it was a large van with loads of space for only two people. It looked enormous inside and the bed made up easily and no lost space with a bedroom which is after all a waste of living space. The kitchen is very good and my wife has fallen in love with it and for the openness, and view out the back lounge when parked. There seems to be very few made so WHAT IS THE Reason?
I do want a Merc with a REAL auto box and the alternative is a Hymer MLT which is also available, but without the open space and NO extra bits, for a BIG cost.
Anyone who can give me advice about this matter would be appreciated.

Re: Hello from a potential owner
The Beckford was a derivative of the Berkshire/Wilton end lounge models. In 2014 AS rationalised the model range and dropped the Malvern fixed bed model. However the Dealers still wanted and still sold the Malvern so in 2015 the Malvern was re-introduced and the Beckford dropped.

Was there any problem with the layout, I think it looks fine but why would the dealers not want it were they left with a pile or was only a few made?

Re: Hello from a potential owner
There are only ever a few made of most models.
The layout was fine, we had an Inca end lounge and then a Wilton end lounge but then we decided that we would prefer a fixed bed Malvern as, in the Malvern, AS had designed a layout that gave a fixed bed and still loads of living space (same applies to the Broadway FB). It would seem that the fixed bed sells much better than the end lounge.

Re: Hello from a potential owner
Seems a bit strange as there is SO MUCH room there and the beds are a few seconds to pull out, unlike my present one of pull this push that drop this etc. The amount of seat out makes two singles or one huge double. I want singles as I get up often in the night and do not want to disturb Wifey. I am also looking a a Merc based Hymer MLT but that is cramped compared to the rear lounge.
Are there any special faults or things that could go wrong(leaks) with these models as they look well made although the floor from underneath looks really unprotected plywood only. Sorry for all the questions but it is the price of some houses to spend and I need to be sure I am doing the right thing.
