2011 Broadway ek convert a bench to dinette
first time doing this, reason for this post is that my daughter and granddaughter need a holiday.
We cant afford to change van, stealers wont give me a deal around same age vans.

AS currently charge £1000 for the 2 rear travelling seat option at build stage. Assuming you don't want to devalue your 2011 van, you should get AS to do it, but it won't be just £1000, I suspect nearer £3000 would be about right. Don't forget to get your V5C amended and Insurance.
It is not illegal, but maybe not wise, to travel in the rear without seat belts fitted, where fitted they must be used though.

I would agree with Peter L - well, more or less.
If you feel capable of doing it yourself (after Roli's advice) I would suggest you contact Alan Osborne at A/S Spares and give him your build number. (It's in the glove box in case you don't know.)
With average luck he should then be able to provide you with perfectly matching components to do the job and make it look like a factory fit.
Worth asking anyway. 2011 is still quite new so the bits should still be available, and if he can help I'm certain he will. He's always very pleasant and helpful!

Hi
Trying to get a van with 4 seat belts is difficult ,We went for a Surrey as we wanted to take the grand children The other options were the Pollensa and I think "Rols'" Windsor though he took out his seat belts I think.Seat belts have to be structural so not an easy fit,They are extra cost options on some models,For some strange reason it is not illegal to travel in the back without seat belts, children must be over 5 I believe,I think your best option may be a PX
Regards Alan

Re: 2011 Broadway ek convert a bench to dinette
I rang AS asking about converting my 2 side sofa layout to a dinette with 2 belted seats. They can do it at a price.
Sit down.
Around £6000.
I didn't get it done.

Re: 2011 Broadway ek convert a bench to dinette
We did the exact opposite and OK we lost 2 seatbelts but the van improved a lo for us and became legal weight wise. It's not something you could undertake yourself apart from fabricating the seat belt frame you have to consider its mounting points. There is then the new seat bases that need fabricating and covering with the new seats upholstery etc.
If you want to see the finished product have a look round for an Orian Gemini AS Windsor or AS Sigma with this layout. (The Broadway originally was a rebadged Simca)
It is the messing about and price fluctuations on our conversion that caused me to fall out with the S/CTR it was when that mark bloke went in to replace Trevori

Re: 2011 Broadway ek convert a bench to dinette
a couple of years ago a Gatcombe owner inquired about a single seat on the off side to make a dinette as in some of the models was quoted £2000
It is not illegal to travel in the back without seat belts I have it on my insurance for 4, ie insured for 6 , if the van is 2007 onwards it is illegal. stupid law .

I understood it is illegal to travel in the back of a motorhome without a seat belt unless your vehicle predates 2005. Is this correct?

This article appears to give a good view of the legislation. http://www.leisurerentalsdirect.com/pages/contentPage.asp?QN=163
Ie not illegal but the Police could prosecute in the event of an accident. Carrying children in the back is a different matter.

Who could they prosecute and for what? If seat belts are fitted, they must be used, if no seat belts are fitted, then that's a different matter. The law relating to children is, as you say, is also a different matter.PLOUGHLIN wrote:This article appears to give a good view of the legislation. http://www.leisurerentalsdirect.com/pages/contentPage.asp?QN=163

I think they would prosecute the driver for endangering his passenger(s).
