Auto sleeper Worcester - maybe!
Hi, My Husband and I have decided to take the plunge and buy a motorhome. Never camped or had caravan but used to living weekends in horsebox around the country. We both like the Broadway and the Worcester. We can obviously get a later year Broadway for the money than a Worcester, as the Worcester is on a Mercedes Chassis. We can both drive over 3.5t. Horseboxes are being targeted for their weight and I am sure motorhomes are going to be targeted more in the future, if you were us, would you be tempted to buy the later year Broadway and upgrade it or go for the Worcester which is already upgraded and has a 680 kg payload. There is just us and a large dog and we would like to spend a few weeks n France every year and use it for 4 day breaks in the Uk. Any help from anyone, greatly appreciated.

We have a Worcester and love it; the decent payload is one of the reasons, but also the space inside. If you don't mind making up the bed, which we don't, the payback in room to move is really good.
If you are going to spend a lot of time in it you'll need lots of 'stuff', then here's the wine you'll need to bring home. We would go for the Worcester every time.
We have the auto gearbox which for us is well worth having, and the Mercedes auto is excellent; auto's not everyone's priority though.
My only caution would be that you need to know that it has a Whale water system, and that you'll be happy with that. Again, we are, but it doesn't seem to everyone's cup of tea.

Hi and welcome
I don't know how accurate this information is because it's second hand, but I think the problem with the Broadway is its somewhat limited rear axle capacity, rather than straightforward user payload.
A friend wanted one but decided against on those grounds, and also because it has a comparatively long tail end and would have grounded going onto his drive. As I said, only hearsay - but these may be points worth looking into.
Either way you will be getting an Autosleeper, and this time the comments of others are very relevant. Virtually everyone who has been in our van (including several French and other interested foreigners) has commented on the excellent design and superior build quality. That includes the aforementioned friend who has an Autotrail Star-something, and wishes it was built as well as ours.
Hope this helps
Dave

Thank you so much for the messages so far. Really like the Worcester - think we are just trying to justify spending so much of our hard earned money!

Bear in mind though the depreciation is extremely low on these things so you may not be 'spending' as much as you think. I have sold previous vans purchased secondhand at a a higher price than I paid for them!

I sold my first second hand to me motorhome for more than I paid for it, they do keep their price.
