Hi folks. I' m convinced I need the motorhome lifestyle after years of boating and previously caravaning. I am actively looking for a AS Symbol. Saw a lovely example today but then discovered the front arches rusted through. Is that an expensive fix? I suspect it is. I am more used to series land rovers with galvanised chassis! Such a shame as the interior was immaculate and a full service history.

Visible rot on a Symbol or any Boxer for that matter is very rare, underneath yes there are a few places to check but not come across rotten wheel arches. Keep looking, a good one is out there. Welcome from N.E Wales

Thanks for your reply. The rest of the underside was good. Sill seam could do with a paint as well.
Just spent two weeks near llangollen up from the quiet Pontfadog village. What a lovely area you live in!

Lived in Chirk some 30 years ago (before the bypass took the traffic away), Pontfadog was a regular place for a meal, was it the Swan? Yes that area is gorgeous.

Thanks everyone that's quite a welcome! I think I'm going to like it here.
If anyone would like to off load their Symbol 2002-2004 let me know.
An ES version could be handy and a bike rack and awning. I'll post up on the wanted section.....oh and no rust

Ah, nice m8form8. We do still have a 12 ft dinghy to sail. I could never take it away when we used to caravan. Would be impossible to reverse ! When I capsize I'm known as Bob.
Cheers
