Post by ARDLUI Sun Oct 02, 2011 1:53 pm

Hello to all. I am "over 60" and have been motorhoming for only 15 months, previously I was under canvas so to speak.
I have an Autosleeper based on a Renault traffic diesel 1996 vintage.Over the last year I have refurbished the van and is now performing well.
I have done around 3500 miles in the last year.I am a mechanic to trade and do all the work on the van.I live on the Isle of Arran in Scotland and any trips away involve a ferry journey, this is where my van scores as it is less than 5 metres and is the same price as a car on the ferry.
This year so far we have toured The Outer Hebrides, and next month will be touring North of England Southern Scotland.

Cheers ARDLUI

Hi and welcome to the forum ARDLUI smileywave

From another 'over 60' , we have never been to any of the Scotish islands, but they look so wild and remote, (which we love) that we must stop always going south ..... maybe next year up!

Regards, Brian & Chris

Hi Ardlui
Welcome to the forum, I've not been here long myself, but they seem a friendly bunch.
I'm making a calculated guess that you are also a member of the RTMR, yes?
I'm Frank, the mem sec.

@ Brian and Chris if you love wild and remote, make your way up to the Highlands, you'll love i - we do!

From someone who has camped on Arran (twice). I suspect one reason for the Renault is narrowness for your roads on the island and the need to avoid the kamakazy bus drivers hugegrins

Hi Frank, Thanks, I am retiring at the end of Nov. so we will be able to spend as much time away at a time as we like allthumbz

We will definitely be going North at some time (always headed to the 'sun' in the past) All my vans automatically headed to Dover !!

I knew it was a bit wild up there but Roli's 'Divine Wind' has got me worried hugegrins

Hi Whisky ...... How could you ...... i haven't reached my teens yet lol4
