Thanks Paul will be off to Maplins to get one of those.....
I did buy one in Canadian Tire ( Vancouver)- of course everything is bigger and better over there......er no actually it takes about a week to put a couple of pounds in a tyre -totally useless!!

This looked like a good replacement for my burnt out old one but it's only got a 3 metre power lead, which won't get it anywhere near my rear tyres on the Nuevo and I wouldn't fancy using some sort of extension lead in case it overheated.
Shame.
Shame.

The one from Maplins looks very much like the Kensun that I bought and just dumped when it started showering sparks.

In case what over heated? the compressor or the extension?nuevoboy wrote: and I wouldn't fancy using some sort of extension lead in case it overheated.

Can't see why the compressor should overheat. Either chop the cable in the middle and solder [or crimp if you must] in a length of suitable cable i.e. greater than the 10 amps the compressor is rated at, or unsolder the plug and and add 'your' extension to the end - resolder the plug onto the bit you've added

I suddenly saw sparks coming out of the underside of the pump so I suspect it just failed. It looked tough but was not and I'm still looking for a pump that will do what I want which is inflate my campers tyres.

I had one that was supposed to reach 200 psi [my 'proper' compressor knocks off at 90] but it wouldn't take the van tyres beyond 45. That was quite a while ago though, I bought one of these Michelin ones:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Michelin-Hi-Power-Inflator-Detachable-Digital/dp/B000V5IG5U
and it has been fine, will take my tyres up to 65. I swapped the tyre connector as I didn't like the screw on one.
BTW I didn't pay that much for it either, I got it from Amazon returns.

How about this one, just seen it recommended on another forum...
http://www.jgs4x4.co.uk/t-max-heavy-duty-12v-portable-air-compressor-car-van-truck-4x4-tyre-pump.html
needs to go direct to battery not into cig lighter as too powerful for cig socket.

Bought one of these last week, not from maplins though. It's fine for car tyres but on van it slows down and stops at 45 psi.
Emailed seller and they're sending me another.
