Worcester Front marker lights
Took the van for its MOT today - all was well. However, they flagged up that the front marker lights are not working. Back ones are, front not. It was not relevant to the MOT but Mercedes say that there is a wiring fault. Has anyone had this problem and can suggest a solution? Could it be a fuse? Who would be best to check this out?

Re: Worcester Front marker lights
When you say "marker lights", what do you mean? The day-time driving lights only illuminate at the front, so perhaps you refer to parking lights, which should operate front and back? Who do you mean by "Mercedes"? A wiring fault on a 2012 vehicle- surely "Mercedes" should be dealing with that under the warranty?
Before one of the usual suspects comes along... perhaps you should post on the intro section?

We had both headlamp dip beam lamps fail on our Polo this week, as an engineer I suspected a fuse but... it was two lamps failing together- suspect that failing one took the other out, modern technology, eh?

Thanks Pete. No, not the daytime driving lights. The white lights at top of Luton and orange lights on the side of the van. Sorry, don't know what else to call them. Strange that front not working but back "marker" lights are. Will investigate further.

Re: Worcester Front marker lights
Hi, Jan
Have you checked if they are on a separate fuse and if so is it OK?
cheers

Re: Worcester Front marker lights
It may well be that Mercedes will not undertake this work under warranty as the lights are not part of the original Mercedes spec. But are fitted by the converter ie. Autosleepers at the build stage, I would try your local dealer, from your location I would say Marquis who have a branch in East Sussex or another branch in Hampshire.

Re: Worcester Front marker lights
Ah- I understand and "marker lights" is probably what they are called! M-B will not want anything to do with these lights as they are part of "the caravan" and, from experience, the wiring of such things is often complex and sometimes illogical!
If you have the A-S owners' manual there is a list of fuses which is sometimes even up to date(!) that would be a good starting place. Mine is for a later model, so probably will not be applicable to your van.

Re: Worcester Front marker lights
Hi Jan!
Mine was exactly the same, the fault is in the interface unit between the cab and the conversion and it is a Mercedes Benz issue that the local dealer fixed for me under warranty with no issue at all.
Marquis ( Plymouth) were fantastic about it, if you want to PM I can tell the whole story but pretty certain that is your problem.
Regards
David

Re: Worcester Front marker lights
In the MB build spec for the base chassis, option LB1 Side Marker Lights is listed. The fuse(s) for marker lights is part of the MB fuse box set up.

Merc F10 25A in panel under drivers seat (access from drivers door) but unlikely to be that as it serves other habitation facilities. Sargent F2 in the EM50 (grey box at the back of the drivers seat) or fault with EM50 or wiring loom.

Re: Worcester Front marker lights
Sorry but I had exactly the same problem on exactly the same van so I suspect the solution is exactly the same as well and that is a MB fault, changing a unit but I forget what it is called now!!
Marquis at Golden Cross might call Marquis Plymouth who can tell you what it is!!

Re: Worcester Front marker lights
The fault could be a missing 'light on' signal from the Mercedes CAN Bus, a missing 12v from Mercedes fuse F10, a failed relay in the EM50, a fault in the circuit/F2 leading out of the EM50 or a fault in the Sargent wiring loom to the marker lights.
The original post said that some of the marker lights were working which suggests that the Mercedes installation is ok and that the fault is in the wiring loom to the marker lights. If none of the marker lights illuminate then it could be any of the faults just mentioned.
If Mercedes fuse F10 in the fuse panel on the outside of the drivers seat is removed and the lights switched on then none of the marker lights should light. If when the fuse is replaced and the lights switched on, some of the marker lights illuminate then the fault is in the Sargent wiring loom. If that is not the case then the next thing to check is the input to the EM50 from the CAN bus.

Re: Worcester Front marker lights
same problem on my Nuevo - caused in my case by water getting behind the lights and rotting the wiring (the whole structure from which the light emerge was full of water!)

Re: Worcester Front marker lights
Some of the marker lights worked on mine and the Mercedes unit certainly wasn't OK so that suggestion is not to be relied on!
