Duetto reversing lights
Advice please! Our 2004 Duetto reversing lights are not working and as we are not sure if they both stopped at the same time, we think it is sensible to check bulbs first. We have removed the fridge vent on offside and grey panel on near side as described in the handbook. The handbook then says 'reach in and unscrew cluster using the two black plastic screws'. We can't see anything and can only feel, so are a bit hesitant! If anyone could shed any light on changing these bulbs (no pun intended!!) that would be great.
Thanks Bev

Re: Duetto reversing lights
Hi,
If I remember rightly the reversing light switch is mounted above the brake pedal and its plunger springs out when the pedal is depressed(or just fed up) I would try flicking the plunger with ignition on to see if the plunger is stuck in, easier than bulb checking,
Chris

Bev wrote:'unscrew cluster using the two black plastic screws'.
They are more like wing-nuts than screws and can be undone by hand (but may be quite tight, so a strong male hand is useful here). The nuts are located at the top and the bottom of the light unit and A-S can make it harder than it should be by not trimming the toilet room framework. On my MK7 Duetto, I had to cut some of the framework out of the way in order to reach the nearside unit's wing-nuts.
Partly to make access easier and also to enable easy storage of the mains lead, I cut a 15" apertureĀ in the toilet room wall and this made accessing the light cluster much easier on the nearside.

Re: Duetto reversing lights
Thanks for all your replies. We popped the van into Halfords and had 3 very helpful guys working on it for over half an hour, including one specially chosen for his skinny arms! They managed to change the bulb on the fridge side but not the washroom side. As fridge side still didn't work, and it isn't a fuse, I'm afraid we've booked it into garage.
Very impressed with Halfords...they didn't charge us a penny, and the guys said they had quite enjoyed the challenge of a different type of vehicle. Mind you it was a very quiet Wednesday afternoon...might have been different on a busy weekend.

Whoops...sorry for the two similar posts here. I wrote one and when tried to send, work was being done on the site so I wrote it again later. Didn't realise it would send the original later.
