Newbies, but love our Bertha!
Hi, we bought our 95 Automatic Transit based Amethyst last summer on a bit of a whim thinking we would try it and upgrade if we liked it. No upgrade needed we have decided as are thrilled with Bertha as we have named her. We bought her with the idea of trying motorhoming and then maybe driving her to Greece this year as we have a floating summer home out there now. Were really sailors and took our yacht out to Greece, then wanted a dog and met some people who had a motorhome and took their dog with them to Greece. Tired of flights and airports we had intended to fly back to Greece in September last year but after buying Bertha and having trouble finding flights on the spur of the moment said lets drive. So we did, Bertha proved herself up to the task and she is just so comfortable. We test drove a few motorhomes before buying her and hated the hardness of the ride in most, Bertha actually has springs and seats that bounce. As I am arthritic and have two metal hips I wanted an automatic, I was skeptical of fords but this one has won me over. She may not have electric windows and air con and cruise control but she is so comfortable and well sprung I can drive her all day and not tire out. (Hated the car when we returned lol)
So now were driving to Greece every year in Bertha, and have joined the Auto sleeper family. Several admiring comments on the continent she is looking good for her many years.

Hello and from Leicestershire, I think the older vans are built better, new may look all shiny and smell new, as there have been many problems with new vans due to cutting costs and replacing wood with plastic and metal with plastic, I know which I would rather have, so enjoy Bertha, many happy trips in her.
Regards,
Margaret
