Mean Machine !!!!
Hi everyone
Took this foto at the Ayers Rock camping ground a couple of years ago- At first I thought it was a prison van (apt for OZ don't you think !)
They certainly know how to build robust vehicles over there and it almost has the same famous AS stripes
Anyone got any more unusual vans ?

Re: Mean Machine !!!!
The one in my avatar - a 1970 Leyland aluminium coachbuilt by Marshalls of Cambridge who now build aircraft interiors.
One of only around a dozen built as training vehicles for BMC Factory agricultural vehicle training department and transported worldwide. I know of 2 in Africa and India.
They toured in pairs - one as a workshop and it's sister a classroom. Mine was converted by Thomson Caravans.
A 5.7l non turbo diesel slug weighing around 7 tonnes, 32 ft long and 11 feet high. I found it again on ebay last year in the condition you see it in the lower pics- sold for £5750! and now sailing it's way to Norway for restoration!

Such a shame to see it in that condition now, would be interesting to know what the new buyer has in store for it :)

It's already started the tidy up! pics in the link
I sold it in 1989 to the guy who let it deteriorate - the new owner seems to be an enthusiast! [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
