Hi to all my name is Michael, I have a 1989 Talbot talisman (petrol). The main reason I brought this vehicle was the age of it ,I can not stand all the state of the art up to date vehicles that are made only to be fixed in a state of the art workshop. Sorry I was brought up on Morris / Austin / Hillman. My first car was a 1936 Hillman Minx , cost £25.00 because it had new flashing trafficators on it. Sorry to be a bore but that's a bit about myself. Michael.

Hi there,
Welcome from what has been a lovely day in Skegness.
I'll bet you wish you still had your 1936 Hillman Minx right now!! I know I would like to still have the 1935 BSA three-wheeler I started on in 1960; bought for £15 from Sid Dennis whose grandson is still running the scrap metal business here in Skegness!
Yep, even in those days it was basically £15 worth of scrap but I still enjoyed it!
Best regards,

How I agree .older vehicles had/have character, I went to a scrapyard once for an engine for a Hillman Imp, guy said you might as well take the lot home, which I did, had four of those, an Austin Cambridge, my first which I had before I passed my test, was a 1962 Vauxhall FB Estate, Alabana gold and Alaska white roof, had that for eleven years, plus many more usually bangers, I wouldn`t go any newer than the one I have, or maybe perhaps a year newer, cannot stand all the lights and bleepers for this and that, and more to go wrong, plus the expense, not many mechanics these days more like fitters, like plain and simple, uncomplicated .jmho
Also had a Bond Mini car, remember those.

Hi there and a big welcome to the forum
Yes agree with modern and complex and hassle BUT when it is working it is fantastic. Traded my computer ridden Landrover for a 20 year old one and the most complex bit of electrics is the windscreen wiper motor.
But and its a big but, I do miss the comfort of the newer but not the worry of the cost when it goes wrong. Did you notice I said 'when' it goes wrong and not 'if' (it is a Landrover)
