peugeot boxer Nuevo 2.2 Hdi
Hi,
Can anyone out there who has a similiar engine to mine tell me whether the oil filler cap at the front of the engine bay by the radiator is just an alternative filling point to the one on top of the engine or is it for something else (like the gearbox)??
Thanks

No idea Flynn but I'd doubt there would be two ways in for engine oil. Maybe power steering fluid?
I'll lift my similar bonnet when I get home and report my thoughts. (But someone else'll beat me to it, I bet.)

My old 2.0 JTD had the same. One on top of the engine as normal and one on an "extension" to make it easy to top up without spilling. The current van with the 3.0 multijet doesn't need it as the engine is angled forwards. I can't comment on the 2.2 hdi but would guess something similar to the above. Hope that helps.

Had a peek last night and mine (2009 2.2) only has one way in for oil and that's on top of the cam cover.

I have a 2003 2.2HDi Nuevo, and when purchased, the dealer told me that the filler to use is the one which feeds the oil direct to the sump.

If it does not have the standard picture of the 'Oil Can' emblem on it don't put engine oil in it until your local Peugeot dealer clarifies it.
(If it was meant to take engine oil in a filler cap for this series age of engine it should clearly have this standardised 'oil can' emblem.
Mine is a 2003 Boxer Diesel 2.0HDTi and only has the one filler on top of the engine rocker cover (usual place on majority of vehicles)
Interestingly the 2003 2L Petrol Injection engine illustrates the 'one and only' engine oil filler cap in the front of the engine bay (page 131 of my Boxer drivers handbook - alternative engine)

I was led to believe that this was an easier alternative to the ne on the rocker cover by the garage i use for servicing.

My 05 Symbol 2.2HDI has two fillers, the normal one on the engine and one at the front next to rad. I have topped up using the front one without a problem

Yo
I will add my Boxer Symbol 2.2 has two filler caps. The one at the front has a oil can symbol on it.
