Aerial position for 2004 Nuevo EK.
I'm thinking of fitting a Status aerial to the roof of my van. I've mounted the TV on the wardrobe wall and fitted the power and aerial sockets to same. Therefore I intend to drill the hole through the roof inside the wardrobe. On looking at the top of the van I can see a flat raised part in the roof moulding not far from the heater exhaust pipe. Is this where the aerial is designed to go in order to keep the hole out of any standing water?

I presume you are thinking of a directional aerial that lowers into the wardrobe. No provision was ever made (intentionally) for fitting that aerial.
Be aware that lighting, power and control cables are installed between the inner and outer roofs so research well before you drill and use an adhesive/sealant such as Sikaflex to seal the joint.

It might have been intended for an omnidirectional aerial. I expect one of our Nuevo owners will have an idea.

Never been up to look at roof yet but my aerial is mounted at the front left corner of the wardrobe.

Be interested if you have the raised bit on an ES. Front left of my wardrobe is a no no as it would be under my solar panel!

I fitted the latest Status Aerial to our Nuevo Classic(2bEK) 2009. I had to avoid the raised section in order to allow clearance either side , for when the aerial is lowered prior to moving on.......... When fitted nearer to the wardrobe door( towards middle of van) it is also easier to adjust aerial when wardrobe full of clothes etc.. Hope you understand me!!

Cheers David, yes I can see what you mean. I've not decided on the position yet, as you can see from the pic the solar panel limits me a little.

I fitted a 100W solar panel too, but I utilised the roof bar mountings already there by using two simple bars across the van, then bolted the panel to them. That way I could within reason, put the panel left or right ,enabling room for the status aerial to be fitted.

Afraid the panel was on the van when I bought it.
I fitted the aerial today, drilled right in the centre of the raised portion. Directly under the outer skin is a thick ply reinforcement, so it seems to be intended for an aerial.
All done now, quite neat.

The thick ply is actually the roof. The outer grp is just weather proofing not strength.

Here are a few pics of my instalation. Like others have said here before, TV is not one of our priorities either, especially as we do most of our touring abroad, and watching TV is the last thing we want to do.
I decided on an omnidirectional aerial, mainly due to staying on CL's in England, or in the case of Scotland, any scenic spot, moving on after one night and not wanting to faff about twiddling a pole. If the little 9 inch TV says no signal after a search, I'm happy with that. But we've just returned from a week touring the west coast of Scotland and the aerial and booster never failed to pull in at least 20 freeview stations. I'm of the opinion that these aerials have come into their own since the country went digital.
