AutoSleepers Bourton 2013 Radio
We took delivery of our new AutoSleepers Bourton (2013 model) in January this year. From the outset radio reception has been a problem. The radio will perform properly for some time (although this can be a long or short time from switching the unit on) and the 'cut out' for anything up to 5 seconds. This problem occurs whether the Motorhome is stationary or moving, whether it is plugged into the mains or not. I am at the early stages of trying to solve this problem and have been told "This is a problem with all Mercedes radios" (advice from the service dept. at Autosleepers) and probably something to do with the aerial. - Not helpful. The dealer from whom I bought the Bourton suggests I contact Mercedes - but I bought theBourton from them! (A warranty issue). Any advice from anyone?

Can you receive PM's after only 1 post? I believe you can't send them until you have made 5 posts.

Hi Peter, Have received your answer and look forward to your return to give advice on the problem. Enjoy Mexico, we did, but isn't it a long way to go in a Motorhome?

The PM rules have changed then as I remember you definitely couldn't send a PM until you'd posted 5 times, don't know whether you could receive PM's though.

Please read the contents of the thread above.
Since then I acquired a new Tomtom sat nav and found that interference from the rear view monitor circuitry was causing it to lose location so I had the AS service centre fit a switch on the dashboard adjacent to the gear lever to allow disconnection of power from that circuitry. I only enable the rear view monitor when needed to park. That eliminated satnav problems and further improved radio reception.
In the previous post you will have noted that I have an internal aerial fitted to replace the Mercedes roof mounted one. When I get time I intend to reconnect the original and see how it performs with no power to the rear view system.
I am also aware of an owner who is to have the rear view circuitry removed from above the cab interior light and the camera cable re-routed away from the roof. I am waiting to hear if that helps.
I did a lot of work when I first got the van trying to find the problem (as have others) but one thing that I did not think of was that the camera cable is routed next to the amplifier circuitry in the Mercedes aerial unit and that It will be carrying the power supply noise to that location. Again, when I get time, I will see if I can find a way to supress that noise rather than re-route the cable.
Do note that if you tune the radio to a station with a strong signal all will probably be well with reception - just not what you want to listen too.
I spent the first couple of weeks this year copying our '70's vinyl to mp3 on CD and recon it will take a couple of years of our travels to catch up with them.

Re: AutoSleepers Bourton 2013 Radio
On Tuesday I was speaking to one ofthe guys st A/S service centre when he took us to our B&B while our van had some warranty work done. He mentioned that the factory now use mirror reversing monitors that don't have buttons (you have to use the remote control) brcause the ones with touch sensitive buttons cause interference with Mercedes radios.

Mine is one without buttons and can only be operated by the remote control which is why I installed the power off switch to be able to remove the interference!!!!!!!!
