Hello from Steve & Sue
Hello from Steve & Suzanne in Preston, Lancs, We have just taken our first steps by purchasing a AutoSleeper Talbot Talisman GL who has been christened Big Gertie (will tell you the story when we know you a bit better!) We wanted something we could just take off in and are lucky enough to be on the edge of The Lakes and not far from The Dales. Our own model years are 1955 and 1967 (Sue is my young bit of stuff ) The fact it has a wine cabinet did not influence our decision in any way
Model year for the motorhome is 1981 and we were lucky enough to find a very, very good example. Previous owners had her for 10 years and whenever something needed doing it was done straight away. 89K miles and has recently had a new exhaust, battery, tyres, timing belt, transmission arm, refurb/repsray of the cab (receipt says almost £2K for that alone!), new lighting, new flyscreens, new blinds, and lots of other things, Passed MOT last week with 1 advisory (slight surface rust on a brake pipe). Only slight problem I can find is brakes a bit spongy so all-in-all a great deal. Oh, and the stabilisers look as if they could do with a good greasing! (but can't we all? )
Very much comfort campers - not likely to see us on a site without hook-up, toilet block etc!
Looking forward to out first trip and to hearing from others on here. Will certainly be looking for advice.
If anybdy has tips/general information re these vans, feel free to pass them on!
