Washing seat covers
We've just picked up our Topaz and the seats in the back are a bit grubby and could do with freshening up. Most of the covers seem to be removable so we were thinking of washing them while we've got some nice weather.
Has anyone else done this? If so, any tips/advice?
Cheers, Dave

Re: Washing seat covers
I've always steered clear of removing/washing, because of the uncertainty about how well they will stand up to it physically.
They might be fine, but I preferred (on my last van) not to take the risk, and instead used the spray-on foam cleaners that you can get from places like Halfords, which you (obviously) spray on and then dab off with a damp absorbent cloth. The results on mine were good.
The only caution I would add is that they all seem to include significant amounts of ammonia, and the first time I used this type of product (on the alcantara interior of an extremely grubby Mercedes 560 SEC) I did not use enough ventilation, and ended up with severe bronchitis as an indirect result!

Re: Washing seat covers
I used the foam cleaner on my Topaz when I had it last year, came up well, in some cases the covers don`t just zip off as they have wooden bits screwed. glued to them so that could make it difficult, if you do take them off to wash, but back on before they are dry otherwise the covers will shrink and you will not get them to fit.
from experience on some other covers.
Good luck whichever way you go.
