Hi from first timers in Essex
Hi, Pete and Jan here. Ex trailertent users but just bought a Talbot Express Talisman GL diesel 2.5 which we really like but it's a 1990 model and feels like it's going to need quite a lot of TLC to get it to perform at it's best! We ended up buying from a dealer in Scotland (dont ask!) who really wasnt interested in the van so havent had the benefit of a couple of enthusistic previous owners showing us round the vehicle. We've got some fairly serious cleaning to do but more importantly we're going to have to learn all about the water, gas and electrics pretty much from scratch. We though we'd get to a basic level and get out there and discover the other stuff as we went.
Unfortunately, I've got quite a bad back injury so a lot of this is about biding our time! The engine looks and sounds pretty good (even with 125,000 on the clock) but there's some mad stuff going on with silly bits like bonnet catches, no idea where the leisure battery is or if there even is one etc,.
We'd really like to meet some other people who've got this or similar model and see how are van compares and what we could aim for realistically. We were thinking that paying for a habitation check might pay dividends in the long run - any starting advice gratefully received.
Cheers.

Hi Pete & welcome
We have some good members here so I'm sure you will get some answers to your questions
If I were you I would try to contact a mobile habitation business that will come out to you at your home, they will carry out a habitation check and run through how everything works at the same time?

Welcome to the forum. There are quite a few of these Talbot based Talismen around, and in particular in ASOC. They really do scrub up well and are a credit to the people that made them. There is at least one other owner on here with one, but for some reason people seem to be reluctant to put their van in their profiles so people such as yourselves joing can whisk thro and see who could possibly advise on a model. You will also see the odd Executive which shares the same bodyshell but has a different interior layout. Out of ibnterest there were 4 of these vans that were put on a 4w drive chassis

Hi everybody! Nice to hear from you!
Definitely going to France and having the van sorted for a few things before we go. Any advice on Talismans re windscreen leaks and boiler/water systems gratefully received. I'll post in the relevant areas though :-)
