Hi Everyone
Subject to a successful test drive tomorrow we will become new owners of a A/S Inca.
We both love the layout and size of this model and hope this will be a good entry
in our first journey into the motorhome world.
Any first time advise will be greatly received.

Welcome from N.E Wales
If you go to the home page and then the fact sheet section you will find a checklist for picking up a motorhome.

Hello and welcome to the world of motorhoming!
You're in for a lot of fun
and probably some frustration!
But don't worry, whilst you're on the learning curve you've got a great bunch of friends on here just waiting to offer help and share their experience.
Don't forget, the only daft questions are -
the ones you DON'T ask!!
Hope all goes well tomorrow
cheers

Re: Hi Everyone
Many thanks for all you warm welcomes . Test drive was fine and we pick up the Inca in a couple of week's time.
Now we need to to sort out the insurance !! Quotes are ranging from £220 - £640 fully comp, seems a bit of a minefield as I wasn't expecting such a vast price difference. All quotes were for 0 yrs NCB as we didn't want to transfer max NCB from other vehicles. So far - Livesure , Adrian Flux & Frank Pickles are the cheapest, Caravan Guard & Safe Guard the dearest. Are there any companies to stay clear of ??

Re: Hi Everyone
Hello and Welcome. We have had a 2007 Inca EK since last August, love it. Comfortable, easy to drive and park, warm, great bathroom, lots of storage for 2 people.
We did insurance through Camping and Caravan Club. It was c. £240, that included Breakdown (incl Europe), but we did have NCD to transfer.
Hope you have a great time in it,
Chris and Anne

Re: Hi Everyone
You mentioned Safeguard were dear - they do give discounts for alarms, reversing sensors/cameras, membership of e.g. CC or C&CC, etc so it helps to have a chat with them on the 'phone and make sure they are aware of everything that might gain extra discounts. Also, bear in mind their premium includes AA Breakdown cover in UK & Europe so factor this in against separate costs.
We have been with them for a number of years and have found them very friendly and easy to deal with, had no shock increases on renewals, actually came down slightly a couple of times!

Re: Hi Everyone
As Roger has said, do remember Safeguard includes AA cover UK & Europe, also discounts for a club if you arnt in any, mention this group ASOF.
I find it difficult to believe they are the dearest on " like for like cover ". Similar comments also apply to Caravan Guard.

Re: Hi Everyone
Thanks everyone ref insurance advise. I am still looking for the best all round deal and looking more into the small print on each policy.
At the moment I have AA gold membership and have had confirmation that the Inca is covered. It seems cover is varied for personal effects and windscreen total cover ranges from £600 - £3000!! I will give both Caravan Guard and Safeguard a ring to find out why they cannot match the other insurance quotes. A couple of brokers have mentioned that I qualify for a substantial discount due to fault free driving on two other vehicles, without having to transfer my NCB over. Oh well I'll keep on looking ,
thanks again
