Autosleeper Medallion Wanted
Looking for an AS Medallion - preferably low mileage and in good condition. Mercedes chassis preferred (dreaming I know), but would consider an LT. Must be a manual (not interested in auto).
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Autosleeper Medallion Wanted
You may have a long wait. Looking through old posts on Medallions, back in 2018 there were only 13 Medallion owners registered on the forum, most didn't specify whether they were VW or Merc (weren't they just badged engineering, same vehicle?) . Just enter Medallion in search box, top right, to find the previous posts.

Thanks Paul, I seem to recall that you used to own one a few years back? I missed out on Dave Campbell’s last year through my own stupidity, but I’ve not given up! There’s one on Autotrader at the moment but it’s a Sprintshift and I’ve read too many horror stories so I’m giving that one a wide berth.

No, I've never had one but certainly wish I had, mind you I like all the monocoque versions.

Educate me please. What is the Sprintshift and what is horrendous about it?Barr1622 wrote:Thanks Paul, I seem to recall that you used to own one a few years back? I am about to buy a 2019 Bourton on a RWD auto Merc.

No problem with the Bourton, it’s a proper automatic! The Sprintshift is like a normal manual gearbox with an automated shift mechanism attached to perform the cog swapping. They tend to be on much older Sprinters (pre-2006).

Re: Autosleeper Medallion Wanted
Phew, that's a relief! That sprintshift must be the same as the Fiat Comfortmatic. Earlier this year I looked at a Fiat Comfortmatic and being a bit ignorant I asked the dealer if it was the new Fiat automatic. The salesman was a young man and I think he didn't know but he said yes it is the new version. I put a deposit on the mh and the next day I discovered it was in fact a Comfortmatic which we had said that we definitely didn't want. I cancelled the deal, and the dealer refunded my deposit less £500 for administration expenses. The dealer had done nothing to the vehicle and all they had done is print an invoice. I objected, and the result is they have a CCJ against them and I am taking them to court for the £500 plus fees and expenses. The dealer misrepresented the vehicle, and I claim that £500 is excessive for printing four pages of text. I want a 'judge' (actually in the small claims court it isn't a judge, it's a lesser being) to decide what is fair.Barr1622 wrote:No problem with the Bourton, it’s a proper automatic! When I looked under the bonnet of the Bourton I thought oh this is wonderful, an in line engine, a torque converter, gearbox, prop shaft, diff and rear axle. Lots of room to work, and I understand it all. Well, most of it!

Many thanks Terry, unfortunately it’s the one I’ve mentioned above with the Sprintshift auto gearbox which I’m not keen on.
Cheers

Re: Autosleeper Medallion Wanted
Thanks Terry, definitely a Medallion and preferably on a Merc chassis with manual box. Would also consider an LT 2.5tdi but not the 2.8 as the engine parts are becoming harder to source.

Re: Autosleeper Medallion Wanted
I've just remembered, if you do manage to find a Medallion and you need an original handbook , I've got one you can buy. It does say it's a VW based one but there's nothing regards the base vehicle , it's all about the conversion. I bought it 'in case it was useful' as I do with other AS odds and sods. The book is dated 1997.

Re: Autosleeper Medallion Wanted
When I decided to sell my beloved Mercedes Medallon due to increasing family health problems I offered first chance to someone who had asked me to give them first chance (Barr182?) but this fell through.
The same day , I put it on the Autosleeper Forum on Facebook and it was effectively sold within 20 minutes.
I had it for 22 years and was really sad to have to let it go.

Hi Andy, I am keeping fine thanks but unfortunately my wife has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and it is badly affecting her.
