Solved-where to put awning pole!
Ever wondered wher on earth you can put the awning pole which is too long to fit under the beds and gets in the way if left on the floor. Why Autosleepers cannot do the same as I have I don't know. I fitted it just behind the door on the left in the toilet room.
Look at my pic-I have used 3 15mm white plastic pipe clips obtainable at any plumbers merchants or B&Q.
Just thinking of my next good idea!!

Keep ours in the luton. But do agree these things and steady leg handles can be a pain to store in a lot of vans

Absolutely superb!!
At the moment ours lives in the slot above the bunks when on the move and on the bike-rack when we stop!
Another mod for when I get back.
Many thanks and best regards,

We bought the Omnistor brackets but they were pricey and fitted it to the back wall of the overhead locker (did think about fitting it upright inside the wardrobe)
I cant understand why Auto-Sleeper don't fit the brackets? as these surely must come with the awnings, our replacement Fiamma awning certainly did!

Good idea CC but as we stuff all our bedding in the overhead locker it would be hard to get at!

I am lucky in having a tow bracket with the square section frame slightly proud of the rear bumper section, enabling me to secure across, (low accross the rear of my Neuvo) a length of grey builders drainage pipe app 6" dia c/w fixing screw cap fitting caps on each end The awning rafter, the two long fiamma end blocker wall poles, and the fold flat winder handle, all are easily stowed within. (Also a small fishing rod) Copied the idea of the plumbers van pipe roof holder.

Hi All.
I have mine in the luton very similar to CC except that I fitted the clips to the inside front of the luton above the hinges.

Hi MM.
In my last 3 motorhomes, all Autosleepers. This was where the winding handle for the corner steadies was stored. Should think as all 3 came to me with the handle fitted in that position that was where it should be.
Its good for me as the wife fills the wardrobe to bursting point. Even for a weekend away. Not even enough room left for my one spare shirt.
Cheers. Whisky.

Re: Solved-where to put awning pole!
My new Lancashire came with a very long awning pole - but the Omnistor on my previous Hymer had a much shorter pole which fits in the N/s bed locker. Why do Auto-Sleepers provide such a stupidly long pole?

Best regards,

OK - the angle needed for the built in awning does need a slightly longer pole if you are short - but not that long!
But if that is my only gripe then it's not a bad van!

awning pole
Hi All,
If the pole is to long for you why not cut it off and weld or have it welded back to a suitable length, the overlong length is probably because the awning manufacturers only supply 2 lengths of pole short & long.

Re: Solved-where to put awning pole!
Good job it is long, tried opening ours recently without extending the handle fully and was really surprised how much more difficult it was trying to wind it in... never again... had to stop three times to rest my arms and catch my breath every other time with the handle fully extended it's never been a problem...

Re: Solved-where to put awning pole!
Our winder is clipped inside the hatch cover of the outside storage box. I must admit that we use it in it's shorter length, as fully extended it can be a bit unwealdy.
