Quite a good site at Birsay, not far from Twatt. Also good carpark with loos on Hoy near the path to the Old Man of Hoy

Re: camping orkney
I holiday there every year.
there arent too many campsites -
one in Kirkwall (probably closed for the winter) which is pretty much in the center of town - though very quiet
another in Stromness which can get very stormy in the winter time
and one near Birsay which is ...shall I say remote!
there is a CL in Evie (the campsite there is currently for sale -if you fancy buying a campsite cheap) but again its a bit remote - no toilets just a HS and a hook up.
On south Ronaldsay there is a site near St. Margarets Hope (never stayed at it)
You can wild camp almost anywhere Orkney is the best provided for place in Britain when it comes to public toilets - all immaculate with hot water and often an outside tap. there is a nice sheltered carpark (with toilet and tap) a couple of hundred yards from Scara Brae. There is also a nice carpark (with toilets) in Finstown and a great spot at the foot of the Kitchener Memorial (Marwick head) On South Ronaldsay you could try the ferry terminal at Burwick or the carpark at Sands of Wright (both with toilets).
The lesser islands are quite expensive to get to but once there wild camping is easily found

Re: camping orkney
just to add get your fuel BEFORE you hit Orkney - Tesco at Wick is cheapest - as its expensive there especially outside Kikwall calor gas at either Dounby CoOp or Stromness - in Kirkwall best get it at Hatson Industrial estate (H.I.S.) if you get it in the town you have to carry the cylinder for a couple of hundred yards to the nearest carpark!
