Hello everyone!
Hello everyone ,
We Finally bought our VW trooper 2 weeks ago, after years of looking , its a 2001 2.4d. Have loved camping for years and feel very spoilt now!! Had our first outing last weekend (only 1 night) to the motorhome show in carmarthen and came back with a list of things i'm sure i need to buy. But first things first its booked in for a bit of a service and a new cam belt tomorrow (Its only covered 45000 mls but better be on the safe side ).
Its still all new to us and its great to have found this site for a source of help and advice, already got a couple of questioned lined up!!.
Cheers ,
Chris, Julie & Ben (aged 4, he loves it in the roof!!!)

Hi Chris,Julie and Ben
Welcome- you're the 3rd Trooper owner to join this week.
You do right to get that cambelt changed. I had mine done at 37K just for the peace of mind.
Hope you enjoy it on here
Cheers

Welcome to ASOF, Chris, July & Ben
I am sure you will enjoy your van and IMO are very wise getting a new cam belt fitted, so you are aware of a date/mileage it was done at. Very often people wait for a mileage
but age must also be considered. It may have had one, it may not have.
Those 5 pot VW engines are a real joy to drive, smooth and quiet and give you a car like driving experience - good choice of motor

Re: Hello everyone!
Thanks for the welcome Steve and Roli,
Yes peace of mind , i have thought since booking it in ,'why am i spending money on a perfectly good van?' but with the risk of it perishing and breaking there is no regret.
cheers,
chris....

Chris, Julie & Ben,
Welcome to the forum.
Please do not hesitate to seek advice from other members before you purchase extras. Someone on here has probably "been there & done it" already. You are definately on the right track to get the van engine attended to first.
