Hello from Edinburgh
Hi all,
Ive been lurking on the forum reading up about Auto-Sleepers before deciding to get one. Ive taken the plunge now about bought a 1996 Amethyst and have just got back from driving it up from Southampton. Its in pretty good condition with only having 46k on the clock and been owned by a father and son only. A fair bit bigger and slower than the VW T5 I came from, but the kids already think its great. Hopefully I wont tinker with it too much, as I usually do, but plan to fit a solar panel and a secondary leisure battery.

Hi and welcome from the other side of the Forth.
Hope you and the family get many hours of enjoyment from the Amethyst.
Did you do the journey from Southampton in one go or did you stop off en route?

Hi all, thanks for the replies. No I broke the journey up and stayed in the Lake District on the way home. The fuel cap decided to jam up on the way though, and I had to get a locksmith out to open it! Nearly didnt make it to the camp site before they closed. Suspect there needs to be a few things that get renewed on the van!

Re: Hello from Edinburgh
Yes, it's quite a trip from S'ton to Edi. We often travel between Fife and Berkshire and we've found a great little C&MC CL farm site just off the M6 in Lancashire that we stop over at when travelling in the Pollensa.
Glad you got the fuel cap lock sorted - as you say with a van of that age it's likely to mean spending time updating and modifying things. To me, that's part of the hobby!
Main thing is to enjoy it.

Re: Hello from Edinburgh
Hi and welcome to the forum fellow Ford owner. We bought our Duetto from a small family run motorhome dealer near Southampton. I thought it was a long drive home to Lincolnshire but certainly not as long as yours.
Had we kept the Duetto I would have. fitted a second leisure battery, solar panel and battery master as we have on our Rienza.

Thanks for the info. Yes, a panel, leisure battery and dual output charger controller are on the Christmas list! Im also wanting to modernise the decor a bit too, but will probably just leave it be...
