Shopping at Morrisons yesterday, I noticed that Christmas Cake and mince pies were already in (and it's still August!).

And boxes of Christmas cards in a designer outlet yesterday.

Watch the date on those first mince pies, they were only dated to end of November when we had the first batch in when I worked for Iceland . Makes you eat them and then go back to buy more.

I work in Retail and we are preparing for Christmas because the Christmas Fairy seems to have forgotten our address and we have to do it all ourselves although it will take us to November before we are fully done.
it was interesting that I was filling a Christmas book stand the other day with no intention of leaving it on the shop floor but the books were selling so well that we had to order more almost immediately, if people want to buy it then we want to sell it.
My message to all of the "It's too early to stock Christmas goods", brigade has to be:
You don't have to buy it!
Santa will not send a gang of Elves to your door to force you to buy.
It is your right to wait until Christmas Eve to do your shopping and it is our right to be sold out by then and Ho! Ho! Ho! if we are.
May I be the first to wish you "Season's Greetings" in advance.

What about the floor space that's given over to Christmas stock, normal everyday stock is removed or reduced in space to make way for this Christmas  stuff?

Be still your beating hearts for mince pies, Cadbury's mini eggs are just round the next corner.

I used to work for Kipling cakes, the first batch of mince pies came out of very deep freeze that is why the dates were shorter (couldn't extend the dates even if they wanted to) and the shops wanted mince pies in store early.

I think that the Christmas goods are out now to help you budget and also beat any price increases that are likely before Christmas.
