The First Post!
Hi everyone,
We were just driving from home in Guildford a month ago for a week’s holiday at Pevensey Bay, in lieu of our cancelled trip abroad, when we caught sight of a motorhome dealership and decided on a whim to pull in. Although we didn’t make a purchase it kindled our long talked about dream to own a motorhome.
A month later and we now are the excited owners of a 2009 Symbol and hoping to have our first overnight on a site next week. As newbies we’re very much still trying to work everything out, from how the fridge and heater work, to the mysteries of habitation batteries and Thetford cassette toilets etc. Our current ( no pun intended) preoccupation is the habitation battery which I’ve charged up for three days but the screen display on the MES control panel tells me it’s ‘good’ but as soon as I, say, switch the heater on, tells me it’s ‘low’ and then says ‘shut down, battery low’.
Good news is we’ve managed to boil water for our first cuppa and we’ve worked out how to make the bed in double and single modes. And, isn’t it great when you’re driving to be so high up!
I look forward to reading the interesting info on forum pages and to keeping in touch
Best wishes
Roy

Hi and welcome to the forum.
I can't help with your specific question as our 2002 Pollensa doesn't have one of these central control panels so I can't offer any help on that, hopefully someone who knows about them will be along shortly.
Meanwhile, it sounds like you're doing the right thing, using the van to get to know how everything functions and check that it all works, or not, whilst at home. If you haven't already, I'd also suggest sleeping a night or two in the van on the drive, so that if you've forgotten anything critical it's not far to go to retrieve it or worst case scenario return to sleep in your own bed!
Main thing is to enjoy your new acquisition and have fun.

Re: The First Post!
I take it you bought it from a private seller, as any dealer should have shown you how all things work.
Enjoy your van, IMHO you made the best choice with a PVC, also an Autosleeper. Lots on here are really pleased with the Symbol.

Spot on....Have just driven from home to the Isle of Wight in my car....you can’t see what’s ahead when in traffic which is a great plus in seeing any problems much sooner. Think what it would be like in a lorry though.Royboyz wrote:
