Blackout screen cover
I got the cover in the photo earlier this year for use during summer when you don't really need the Silver Screens. Ok so you can't fold down the centre but they are lightweight and pack into a tiny bag about 12"x8" and fit in glovebox or door pocket. Saves the room that the Silver Screens take up. Got them from Fuel Lagoon on eBay. Did originally buy from Custom Covers but theirs didn't fit well at all, Fuel Lagoons fit very well.

Re: Blackout screen cover
Does it not just soak up the heat from the sun and make the van even warmer in the summer?

Doesn't seem to, in fact we left it on during the day and it seemed to keep the van cooler by keeping out the sun which is what the makers say.RogerThat wrote:Does it not just soak up the heat from the sun and make the van even warmer in the summer?

Paul
Had never heard of or seen those before, we have a big, bulky, heavy external silver screen which is good for when here at home but wouldn't dream of taking with us.
Your one seems ideal, I'm going to order one anyway, question is, would you do the same again?
Appreciate your answer will be after purchase!!

That's a blow - they don't appear to do one for the Peugeot Boxer!

Re: Blackout screen cover
They are amazingly water-resistant as well, just a shake and they are dry enough to pack away, unlike Silver Screens which when wet we have to chuck in washroom until we get to next site or home.

Re: Blackout screen cover
Yep - you're right there!!
Pity they have sold out of the silver ones. I would opt for one of those as they will reflect the sun's heat better than any colour, specially a dark one.
We wouldn't use it in the winter as we need the insulation of the Silverscreen . . . which is actually a cheaper and better fitting Taylor Made.

Re: Blackout screen cover
I'm interested Paul, did you buy the standard at £35 or Deluxe at £50? Might paying extra for the Deluxe worth it?

Re: Blackout screen cover
I bought the deluxe. Prices appear to have been reduced , I paid £59 through eBay . I see from their website that black deluxe are sold out. They will print logos on them, perhaps we could have got an order together for a quantity of ASOF ones.

Well I couldn't resist as they are such a good idea. Thanks Paul for the heads up. Just bought a deluxe version in Navy. Cost £45 including postage. Cant complain at that especially as it means in summer I can leave the insulated black outs back home and save space.

I'll have to ask them for commission.

Re: Blackout screen cover
I have just had a deluxe one delivered for my Devon Firefly based on Transit Custom and I am well pleased with the quality and fit. It will also give us more space above cab since we can leave silver screens at home when appropriate.
You are a good salesman and deserve commission especially since I am about to put this Firefly up for sale and any new owners will reap the benefit of the new screen. ( perhaps it will add value!)

Frederic
Ref Devon Firefly. Like it very much. Was originally looking at Duetto, but wanted a more recent vehicle. The Firefly is based on Transit Custom Trend so bags of spec. including air con, sensors and camera, cruise control, elec. windows, full air bags etc and is very easy to drive. Devon do good quality conversions and this has 2 berths, 4 belted seats full kitchen and a toilet which can be separated off by folding door screen for privacy plus heating. No shower but that is not a problem for me. So a very nice Motorhome all in a vehicle slightly less than 5m long. I could go on, but I suspect I already have maybe rambled! I am happy to expand if anyone interested.
