Anyone going to Shrewsbury?
Our next outing booked (we may go somewhere on the spur of the moment) is the Summer Fair at Shrewsbury, anyone else going to that one? 29th June to July 2nd.

We missed the Newbury show as we headed over to Wales, so might give the Shrewsbury show a look if it works in with our next trip... how does this one compare to the others?

We will be on our way home from Austria, but will be at Warners Knutsford Show in our normal spot as Marshals of the ASOC Rally area

It was the first year last year, the weather was great although rather chilly at night. It is smaller than other shows (we have done Peterborough, Cheshire, Malvern, Newark and Lincoln) but we loved it. The showground is very level, grass short, pitches were all marked out (not just pegs but lined) and right on the river. They arrange a shuttle service on the river to take you right into Shrewsbury, which if you've never been is a lovely town, cost about £2.50 return if I remember right. It is the only show other than the Midsummer Warners show that has open-air entertainment in the evening. Good stage and sound, just take over your own chairs, table and picnic. The only downside to it last year was the chill at night, we had to wear our coats on both nights. Great entertainment, country band Gary Perkins and the Breeze on the Friday (this year it's a Queen tribute band) and on the Saturday evening we had Last Night of the Proms and fireworks, absolutely brilliant and that is being repeated this year They even provided flags to wave. Good selection of Dealers and enough motorhomes to view and although smaller numbers, enough accessory stalls to keep us occupied. If the weather is as good as last year (and a bit warmer in the evening) it should be just as good if not better than last year. Hopefully there will be more dealers as I think some were wary of a new show last year.

With the heatwave on it's way lets hope it's a good turn out, think we are heading to the lakes next trip but if we can work around that as well as a few other hurdles then we may be able to make it... felt a bit cheated by the P'boro show which really was a bit of a disaster all round, at least we got in free courtesy of Lowdhams otherwise I would have been even more annoyed

We are booked in.
Going to have to save up for the diesel we live 9 miles away.
the Sat entertainment last year was superb as were the fireworks.
Even though this is our local show, we enjoy it as much if not better as the bigger one,s.
Its much more relaxed.
Don't miss the boat ride into town.
See you all there.
Dave

Re: Anyone going to Shrewsbury?
Just had email from organisers Event Developments to say showground has been unaffected by recent rain and the show is going ahead as planned. Really looking forward to it as we missed out on Peterborough (well didn't miss out as we went but the show was a washout as those who went know very well). Just hope weather is OK , particularly for the outdoor concerts.

Re: Anyone going to Shrewsbury?
Well we arrived at the show around midday on Friday having spent Thursday night at one of our favourite sites, Ebury Hill C&CC
site which is no-facilities site with EHU. After a bit of lunch we had a wander around the trade area but a lot of traders had not yet arrived. The weather stayed fine but rather windy.
After dinner we took our chairs and nibbles over to the arena where we were entertained to a brilliant Queen tribute act, namely Queen II.
This morning had a good look round the traders. The show is again much smaller than the Newark shows but dealers from as far away as Nottingham had made the journey while closer ones were absent. After lunch walked into Shrewsbury, only took 15 mintes. We have had a few showers this afternoon but sun shining again now. Just hope it can stay fine for tonights outdoor proms concert and fireworks.

Well it did stay dry for the outdoor Proms concert (just about, a couple of spits and spots but nothing to worry about) which was very enjoyable although flipping cold again just like last year. Fireworks at the end were also very good. Here's a couple of photos, not the easiest thing to capture on a little pocket digital.
