Richard, Bert and saying Hello
Morning,
A quick introduction for you.
My name's Richard, I'm 24 and I hail from the wonderfully hilly regions of NE Derbyshire.
After thinking on buying a van for a number of years (I happened to read a lot of articles/watch a lot of youtube videos about van dwellers, such as VanDog and the Indie Projects) and passing my driving test in August '17, I finally managed to save enough money to buy my Symbol, Bert, in November '17.
I learned to drive in various hatchbacks, so having a 5m van as a first vehicle was rather daunting to begin with, but after some practice I'm really enjoying taking him out.
The weather has been a little naff of late, but Bert has seen a decent amount of action- my girlfriend Ellie and I stayed in Bert on the drive at home over Christmas (as the bed in the spare room is rather small), and he's been a willing steed for quite a few Sunday trips to the Peaks or National Trust properties.
His first big(ish) trip will be next week, where I'll be driving him to Skipton to meet up with some friends from uni- then it's Chester in February, Scotland in March/April, then hopefully France in September.
So that's Bert and me, hello to all of you.
A quick introduction for you.

Thanks guys, it's nice to be here.
Hope to learn a lot, and possibly have some useful input of my own to contribute.

Hi Richard, just a point of order, "hilly regions - NE Derbyshire"?

Quite so meanchris, just about everywhere round my end is uphill, and the bits that aren't uphill are downhill.
The upshot is that everyone has stonking calf muscles.
On a related hilly Derbyshire note (though this was into the High Peak), I took Bert up and over Winnats Pass at Castleton the other weekend, and he didn't like it at all! He's only a 2 litre petrol, bless him

I know, I live just the other side of Winnats.
EDIT: I don't know what your technical fettling skills are like, but I may be close enough to help you with any problems with your new van.

Ta Roli :)
@Meanchris, I'd say I'm more enthusiastic than proficient when it comes to technical fettling, so that's a kind offer. I'll be sure to drop you a PM if I need some advice/assistance
