Wanted!!!!
Picking up the mail from my porch earlier today i was surprised to find a note asking if i was thinking of selling my van to please contact *name and number*. My first thought was it's a flyer from a dealer but it's hand written with a felt tip pen so seems genuine.
Just shows how sought after pvc's are!!

Re: Wanted!!!!
I have had numerous people knock on my front door wanting to buy my Clubman also my previous Topaz. usually locals. the Topaz did go eventually to the first person that knocked on my door , he lives in a village a couple of villages away, he still has it and pops round occasionally.

Re: Wanted!!!!
We get 2 or 3 such notes per year and calls at the door if we are in, usually by folk with strong Irish accents. If I spot a car/van with them, I make a note of the reg just incase but never a problem.

Re: Wanted!!!!
Possibly the strangest i had was a car which after a few miles i suspected was 'tailing' me. He followed me from a town almost 10 miles from where i live and as soon as i parked up he did, then came and first apologised for following me but then told me he was desperate to get hold of a Duetto and asked if i was thinking of selling! I told him i wasn't but did point him to this forum and suggest he kept an eye out on here.

That's a nice experience.daisy mae wrote:I have had numerous people knock on my front door wanting to buy my Clubman also my previous Topaz. usually locals. the Topaz did go eventually to the first person that knocked on my door , he lives in a village a couple of villages away, he still has it and pops round occasionally.
Through the DVLA website i found the second car i owned, a 1970 "Moggie 1000" is still on the road! Somebody in Derby owns it but i've never been able to locate the owner.
Also one of my first campervans i owned, a 1994 Mk4 Transit is still on the road.

Re: Wanted!!!!
Before I traded my 02 Symbol, I got numerous notes and callers, some quite repetitive which starts to annoy.
I ponder the fact that if someone is so keen, then why haven't they gone to a dealer? I can only imagine they think I don't the value and they going to pick it up cheap. But that is not realistic, we all know approx value.

Re: Wanted!!!!
In my case there are not that many for sale as my buyer knows only too well, one I believe and certainly not in the condition that mine is, and yes those that knocked at the door did know the prices that they were selling for.Mine wasn`t for sale at the time and I have never advertised mine for sale anyway.AutoSleepyDon wrote:Before I traded my 02 Symbol, I got numerous notes and callers, some quite repetitive which starts to annoy.

Luckily none were of the Irish travellers community.

Re: Wanted!!!!
I've had callers and notes.
The last guy said he wanted a camper for fishing!
When told it wasn't for sale he just left without a thanks. Got into his car and drove off. I got the impression he was a trader roaming the streets on the lookout for campers.

I had a chap in a battered van with a trailer follow me to the door a few months ago wanting to know if the van was for sale. He looked really seedy but I recognised him as a local town councillor.

Re: Wanted!!!!
My old van i sold to a pretty interesting chap. He'd taken early retirement at 50, sold up everything, bought a yacht then spent the next few years sailing the globe! Atlantic crossings were mere 'commutes' to him but that was how he'd met his young American wife in Barbados (hence the 'commuting'). He kept a permanent berth for his yacht in Holland and wanted a small van to use around Europe when not sailing.
As i'm a solo traveler i asked him how it was for him before he met his wife and he told me he rarely went more than a few days without radio contact from cargo ships. To quote his words, "technology and trade has shrunk the world".
