Dog restraints in a Nuevo
Dog restraints
In both my previous motorhomes I had two rear seats with safety belts so I purchased the appropriate fitting to use with a dog harness.
I now have a Nuevo EK which of course only has seat belts for the driver and passenger
We are both particularly safety conceous and wish to give our border terrier (George) the same protection we have when wearing our seat belts.
Is possible to fit a extra seat belt point behind the cab area so I could use my dog harness
Next few trips either the dog or the wife stays at home.

No problem Terry
Will grab a pic for you later and post it up for you, works a treat for us... had the same setup fitted to our Nuevo before our current Broadway.

Re: Dog restraints in a Nuevo
Hi Terry
Our dog doesn't like to be restrained in the van, but she is very well trained and stays in her basket on the side bench just behind the driver's seat. Not far for her to fly in the event of a sudden stop, a soft surface for her to hit, and no danger of hitting us in the back of the neck. Probably at least as safe as being in a harness that just might be round her neck as I stamp on the brakes!! (That worries me about harness restraints in a vehicle.)
If you don't fancy our method, how well trained is George? (I won't ask about the wife! )
If he will do as he's told, possibly the easiest for you, and the most pleasant for him, is to put a sheet of plywood across the gangway, just behind the cab seats. His basket could then go up against it, and as long as he will stay in it and not try to jump over the barrier, he will be safe, and he will not become a missile if you were unfortunate enough to have a crash or have to stamp on the brakes. (Glue a sheet of foam on his side of the barrier if you think it necessary.)
If you really want to use the harness, I would suggest using a strong strap to fix it to the rear end of the bed frame. That would be plenty strong enough to restrain a border terrier (nice little dog ) and by fixing it near the side of the van it could prevent him jumping off the seat - if he's likely to do so.
Hope this helps. It can be a worry, can't it!

Hi Dave
I think using bed frame on offside as it will be easier for the good lady to turn round and see if all is ok with George while traveling
I will wait for the photo from cc to see how he's done it.
Will you be at MMM Peterborough
We will but on this occasion I'm booked in with the Knaus owners club section.

Great minds - obviously.
CC has done more or less exactly what I suggested. Seems an obvious solution and it should work well.

Hi CC
Popped out this morning and found a solution made by 3-PEAKS TREK clips around the flat section of the metal bed frame £7 ideal for a small dog like George (Border Terrier)
Thanks for your help everybody

Re: Dog restraints in a Nuevo
Looks good, but for £7 it should be!!
Being of a stingy nature I would have tied an old dog lead round the bed frame.
Don't know why I didn't think to suggest that before.
