Hi All,
Just discovered this forum while google-ing for some info for my A/S Symbol...
I have 2008 Symbol, purchased 14 months ago second hand with very low mileage from Todds in Preston.
We've done about 15,000 miles in our first year, Just me, the missus and our beagle (Minnie Minx). We live in the North of Scotland in Forres.
The missus has a car, but I mostly use the Symbol as my day-to-day vehicle.. It's particularly handy for me for work.. I work all over the UK (in hospitals), and having the Symbol has saved me a fortune in TravelLodge & Premier Inn rooms over the past year...
If only diesel was cheaper... My symbol has got the 3.0l HDi engine, and no matter how gentle my right foot is, I can't get much better than about 28mpg...
Happy to find there's a forum dedicated to A/S models....

Hi and welcome to ASOF
You certainly travelled a long way to buy your van! What made you decide to travel 365 miles (Google maps) to our neck of the woods to buy it?
I see you're well located for popping out to do a bit of dolphin watching and handy for the Highlands.
Rgds

Re: New Member from Moray
Thanks for the welcome all.
We bought our Symbol from Todds after hours trawling the internet... We'd had our eye on a Renault Master conversion we'd see had on the Wellhouse leisure website. By the time I finally got the finances sorted out, the van had sold.... The missus was upset, so went looking for another one within our budget.
We found the Todds website, and at the time they a Trigano Tribute for sale, 2nd hand, reasonably low mileage and in our budget.. So we took a long drive down to Preston one weekend to have a look at it..
When we got there, and saw the Trigano, we were so disappointed. The previous owners hadn't looked after it particularly well, there were odd latches badly screwed into the cabinets to keep them shut, the lighting was poor etc. etc. We decided that it wasn't for us...
Next to the Trigano was a beautiful AS Symbol.. it looked spotless, low mileage (5800) on a 2008 plate... £10k more than I wanted to spend, but I haven't got a lot of will-power, so I did some sums and gave in. We bought it that day.
Went back down to Todds the following week to pick it up, and we've been happy with it since.. we've done more than 15,000 miles since then.
The service at Todds was great..
Me & the missus are originally from West Yorks., we moved up to Forres about 8 years ago... Most of the family are still back in yorkshire, so we drive down pretty regularly.. The Symbol's great for this... It's got a pokey engine, will cruise very comfortably at 70 (or more) if you can afford the diesel.. We can visit family without having to stay with them :-)
Look forward to picking up lots of tips on here...

I know what you mean about spending more than you plan on the van. When we first saw our van we had to have it even though it was way over our budget. However we have never once regretted the decision.
